Two good quotes from Apple's Event - Celebrating Steve
Brandon Kelly originally shared:

Yesterday Apple posted a video of their company-wide event celebrating Steve’s life. The whole video is worth watching, but two quotes in particular stood out to me, and I had to go back and transcribe them so I don’t forget.

Tim Cook, quoting Steve on simplicity (~5:40):
He said, “Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end, because once you get there, you can move mountains.”

Jony Ive, on ideas (~48:30):
I think [Steve] better than anyone understood, that while ideas ultimately can be so powerful, they begin as fragile, barely formed thoughts, so easily missed, so easily compromised, so easily just squished.

All Things Hobbit Visit The Hobbit Blog where you can view their Video Blogs on the set with the Director Peter Jackson.

TechNote: Wonder why their Wordpress system is using /?p=5333 in the URL when they could have pretty URLs by turning on permalinks. /EndTechNote

Fire Sunset

This was captured last winter, very cold, and I have not seen anything quite like this since. (I have not modified the colors.) Wondering if winter sunsets are different than summer sunsets because of the air temperature.

History buffs... The Dead Sea Scrolls online
Natalie Villalobos originally shared:

There are many days in my life as a Googler when I'm proud of our initiatives - today is one of those days (especially because my B.A. degree is in 20th century modern world history). If you didn't already know "Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."

And today, we bring you The Dead Sea Scrolls online...
Written between the third and first centuries BCE, the Dead Sea Scrolls include the oldest known biblical manuscripts in existence. In 68 BCE, they were hidden in 11 caves in the Judean desert on the shores of the Dead Sea to protect them from the approaching Roman armies. They weren’t discovered again until 1947, when a Bedouin shepherd threw a rock in a cave and realized something was inside. Since 1965, the scrolls have been on exhibit at the Shrine of the Book at The Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Among other topics, the scrolls offer critical insights into life and religion in ancient Jerusalem, including the birth of Christianity.
