My 2012 entry in to the national science foundation visualization challenge. It was a fun 3D project. I was captured by the "mechanical" nature of the bacteriophage T4. instead of building an organic model and placing it in an organic environment which is what i'd normally do as a medical artist, i decided to run with its robotic nature. Although created with screws, nuts, bolts and wires (using 3DS max), each piece approximates the actual protein shape of the bacteriophage.
