Just went to Computer History museum to take a look at the difference engine he designed back in 19th century in action.
It leaves Mountain View in a week, so did not want to miss it.

After  cycling up 4000ft to the top of Mt.Hamilton(4360ft) last weekend, decided to do something slightly more challenging this week. Hiking 7000ft up Mt.Shasta(14179ft) was on the cards.
Used http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=582053 to set up waypoints in Strava for West Face route on my Nexus6, drove to Bunny Flat at 10pm, slept in the car until 1am, got going at 2am, reached summit at 11am, got back to the parking lot via Avalanche Gully around 3pm.
Absolutely amazing part of California. Very happy I did it!

3 and 1/2 hour ride(much less if you are in good shape) gets you from North San Jose  to Mt Hamilton and Lick Observatory(https://www.ucolick.org/).

After 30 or so years I finally learnt the words of the poem of one of my favorite bands by finally finding time to play the song backwards("Поэзия" from "Треугольник" by "Аквариум").
What a great sense of uncovering something very familiar, yet hidden.

"...
О быстроглазый дядька урод,
Скоро, о скоро порву тебе рот!"

What an incredible article: http://servanlog.blogspot.com/2013/11/how-relationship-can-breath.html.

I found Servan's blog by following story behind DirectX/OpenGL wars. Servan was one of key people who wrote Direct3D/DirectX for Microsoft and with it brought Microsoft PC dominance in gaming.
I was curious what is he up to(he left Microsoft in 1998 to start his own company) and got to his personal blog. Truly fascinating reading.

In the thread below Erik Meijer mentioned that his "Introduction to Functional Programming" course (https://www.edx.org/course/delftx/delftx-fp101x-introduction-functional-2126) scheduled for later this year "will use Dart as an example language".

Is it cool or what?
