Hat tip to Amelia Abreu for sharing this amazing video. "What people don't talk about when they talk about design."

Sorry for the delayed response. I like Shirky's quote because I have been thinking a lot about the role of the librarian/info professional in the 21st century and the importance of human connection in the information interaction. My sense is that librarianship remains relevant because librarians (as thinking/feeling beings) are able to facilitate both information access and psychological connection simultaneously (Jen's comment about what she does, how she does and why she loves it provides evidence for this idea). When they fail to do so, then Google seems like a more preferable option.

Introduction
Born on a commune in 1970, raised by a painter-printmaker-teacher-civil rights activist in Iowa City, on Cape Cod and in New York City (1978-1988), went to college in Southern California (Pitzer College), met my now-husband in our senior year, lived in Santa Fe, Brooklyn, Seattle and Fort Collins, and have now settled for the last ten+ years in Seattle. Raising two small boys to be kind, respectful, creative, and accountable to themselves and the community. An agnostic with buddhist and unitarian tendencies. A devoted lover of integrity, kindness, generosity and transparency and a bit of well-placed swagger.
