When I saw India again, I cried for the country I had left 40 years back. I left India, poor but clean. There were no plastic and no garbage floating and flying around as we find today. People are still nice. We make friends walking down the street.  If we see the same face twice, we get a "Namasre" with folded hands.  I am fearful how long it is going to stay this way when American Culture is intruding in every aspect of Indian lives.  American nastiness, dishonesty and violence has already begun to invade Indian culture. Not even God can save India.

I and my wife, adopted true Indian lifestyle. We dressed in Indian clothes, ate Indian cooked food in Indian kitchen and made many Indian friends.  We saw our health improving.  I lost more than 40 lbs without trying. I was able to kick off my intake of Insulin. My Cholesterol level became perfect that even my doctor envied. My blood pressure became absolutely normal and I became fit to walk more than 10 KM in the morning.  I am noting the expanding Indian waste line quite frequently today that I never noticed before leaving for USA.  I tell my wife I never saw so many fat men and women in India before. India is being destroyed by a foreign culture. I hate Indian movies of today that are nothing more than a poor imitation of Hollywood trashy.

My neighbors in Bhowali became my great friends and we walked together after supper. I lived in Florida for 25 year and never knew what is the name of my next-door neighbor.  I have lived in Tennessee for the last 4 years but do not know who is my next door neighbor. First, when I moved to Tennessee, I brought a load of oranges from my backyard in Florida. Took some to my next door neighbor and found next day he had sign posted, " No trespassing".

I am anxiously waiting to go back to Bhowali to see my friends, walk down the great mountain side, bow my head every morning to Golu Baba and pat the reddish brown friendly dog "Lalu" who comes running to me when he sees me.

Well written and beautifully narrated. Wedding in India is not only union of bride and groom but joining of two families in life long bond where they would enjoy their togetherness as long as they live.
HINDU WEDDING This afternoon I almost did not take my camera when Ram and I went on our afternoon walk.  I did out of habit.  As it turned out we came upon a new bride and groom on their way to Golu Devta Temple after thei...
