Nice plug for my book from Louis Gray, my comrade, rival, and better in primeval internet publishing at the Daily Californian. (Guess which one of us is the Google big shot, and which one of us writes about Google big shots.)
Download this Book: The 20% Doctrine

The stories of 20% time, skunkworks, and doing projects on the side have been part of Silicon Valley lore for years. While Google famously led with blessed 20% projects, other companies have found ways to encourage out of the box thinking.

+Ryan Tate, a friend of mine since 1995, when we both went to +UC Berkeley and worked together at the student newspaper, penned this book. I was elated to find the first chapter highlighted two other friends of mine, +Paul Buchheit (for his creation of Gmail), and +Chris Wetherell (for his work on Google Reader). It's incredibly fun to read stories about people you know doing amazing things. I definitely recommend picking this book up from +Google Play.
