This is the BEST sandwich place in all of San Francisco Bay Area (Ok all Ike's locations are). If you are vegetarian or want to try vegetarian, get Meatless Mike with dutch crunch bread or Jessica rabbit with dutch crunch. You can try pretty much any sandwich and all of them are amazing. I wish they had more seating and also they were open beyond 7 PM but this is a place you have to visit if you wanted to try out SF specialty food. I usually end up ordering ahead so that I can pick up without having to wait in the long queue. The service is quick and if you are getting a sandwich, you should also try out dirty chips along with it to make your meal even better.

Shockingly good. You need Ike's. Nothing less than a reformulation of the entire sandwich idea. Ike's Place is to sandwiches what Square is to transactions -- an evolutionary step that uses the same basic components afforded any shop/company in that space, and then gets busy making what came before look old and tired. Ike's sandwiches are so bursting with flavor(s) that you will be delighted from your very first bite all the way through to your free included caramel apple lollipop. Get some. Recommended? = Hell yes.

Fantastic sandwiches, well worth the wait! Staff stays calm and friendly even during crunch hour. The 'Kryptonite' was insane, it can satisfy a family of 6, a junior softball team, and most of the SFFD. Protip: go to Dolores Park to eat and gain stomach room by watching everyone else run around and chase their dogs.

I'm from the east coast, where sandwiches are hoagies and we are very particular about not skimping on the meat and cheese. Ike's delivers on all fronts. Here's what you need to know: if you call ahead (or order online), you'll be given an approximate pickup time and thus avoid the long waits. There are multiple fresh bread choices: the dutch crunch is the best, but you can also get sourdough, whole wheat, even gluten-free. There are also plenty of vegetarian options, my favorite being the Peg Bundy.

Three years ago, this was my review: Best. Sandwiches. Ever. However, something seems to have happened at Ike's. I don't know if it's because they've expanded or moved into a new location or gotten way more popular or what, but it's lacking a little something now. The sandwiches are still good, but you can get a good sandwich anywhere. I don't think Ike's lives up to the hype anymore to wait 45 minutes for a $10 sandwich from someone working there that's not happy to take your order.

Huge, heavy, flavorful sandwiches with unique combinations of ingredients. One sandwich probably lasts 2 meals for most people. Love the menage a trois and backstabber. Get the Dutch crunch bread.
