- That is a neat find. I'm a long time terrible skeptic about data provides in the current GMB insights and all the data they've provided under different names over the years to smb's that claimed their records with google. But this one is interesting and different. And you can't find data like this elsewhere.
Question. Who are those "customers" that show once, twice or more during the time period. Specifically did those people search for the smb or visit the smb via google??? Can Google provide info as to the visitors and the times that mobile visited the smb using G search?? (or in fact any other way).
Here is why I ask. Of many smb types I find one that is both numerous and mostly completely oblivious to Google: The restaurant industry and more specifically the independent restaurants. They give it no attention. For a restaurant its very hard to know where one's customers found you: Google search/ G Maps Siri on an apple wherein its A Maps and Yelp/ review sites/ WOM/ Proximity/ Media sites/ If it takes reservations-OpenTable or another reservation site. Most restaurateurs have no idea.
Then on top of that if they market on the web they often focus on Social Media rather than search. Hey that works. But overall they are really weak on search.
I'm curious about the data they provide. I haven't seen it yet. Does it give a feel for the visitors and connect them to visits to the website or the Maps visibility from Google.
I'm sure they have that data. Are they giving it to the public and the smb operators? If not, why don't you ask in feedback if they would?
- FYI - from Google :)
We’re excited to announce that we’re officially launching Visit Insights to qualifying SMBs this week. That means if you currently see popular times displaying for your business on Search, you’ll now be able to see charts of your popular times and visit duration in GMB. Some businesses will also see a pie chart with repeat visit breakdowns for a date period.
Please note: As a rule of thumb, only listings that have opening hours are eligible for Visit Insights, with the exception of amusement parks and movie theaters.
