Oh!!! someone said to me yesterday, "didn't you have a birthday recently"

Now I realize they might have seen my birthday on some social media site. I don't usually fill in my real birthday on those sites, for privacy reasons. So, yes, today, May 1 is my fake birthday. Thanks for the birthday wishes.

I managed to mess up posting this link yesterday, in spectacular fashion. Sorry for the fumbled PSA!

Nonetheless, if you want the world's fastest OpenStack, this is the webinar to watch today. It's about replacing all the machine virtualization in OpenStack with pure containers, which means for Linux workloads you get amazing density, performance, i/o and latency improvements.

LXD will sit nicely alongside KVM so you can of course have the best of both worlds - VMs for stuff that needs a non-Linux guest, and CMs ("container machines") for stuff on Linux you want to go really really fast and dense.

A few years ago I gave Craig my old Amiga. I learned structured programming on this thing. It holds so many childhood memories that I smile thinking about them all. I am very happy to see it running once again.

Pixel checks out the Commodore Amiga.

Interesting to read Dawkins on the topic. I currently have Raghunathan's book checked out of the library.

Raj Raghunathan on why it's important to not tie happiness to outcomes.

By Joe Pinsker There are three things, once one’s basic needs are satisfied, that academic literature points to as the ingredients for happiness: having meaningful social relationships, being good …

oh yeah, I did do that.

+Jay Wren goes through how he's been playing with the lxd provider in Juju tweaking the default network setup.

Wayne has a great post on the new juju lxd work. I've been using it a bit and it is awesome. It is super fast and I can create and destroy environments faster than creating and destroying with juju-local. One thing which I've done which has made all LXC and LXD instances more valuable to me, ...

Good choice on the Rothfuss, how quickly do you need to get that mound back though?
