Will these houses make you dizzy? Architects build rotating homes. Imagine living in a house that follows the direction of the sun when it's hot. Or one that offers a different view out of your bedroom window every day of the week. For some bold homeowners this is becoming a reality, thanks to an innovative wave of architects who are re-imagining the concept of the house. Once something firmly routed to the ground, homes are now becoming moving entities that can rotate, change shape, and even adapt to the seasons. - http://edition.cnn.com/2017/01/22/architecture/rotating-homes/

Snøhetta’s luxury cabin with Aurora Borealis views opens at Treehotel - If a room with Aurora Borealis views sounds like the perfect getaway, you’ll love what’s popped up at Sweden’s Treehotel. The boutique hotel, which comprises designer treehouses near the Arctic Circle, just welcomed its first guests to the 7th room, a luxury elevated cabin designed by architecture firm Snøhetta. Hovering ten meters off the ground, the elevated dwelling is a contemporary take on the traditional Nordic cabin and comfortably immerses guests in the beautiful Lapland landscape. - http://inhabitat.com/snohettas-luxury-cabin-with-aurora-borealis-views-opens-at-treehotel/

San Francisco’s Seasteading Institute has signed a memorandum of understanding with the French Polynesian government that brings the world’s first floating city closer to reality. The Seasteading Institute first established in 2008 has long sought to implement their vision of self-sustaining communities that can withstand rising sea levels, partnering with DeltaSync in 2013 to build a pilot project in The Netherlands. The new agreement could see construction on a full-blown city begin in the South Pacific as early as 2019. - http://inhabitat.com/worlds-first-floating-city-one-step-closer-to-reality-in-french-polynesia/

Building in a flood zone sounds like asking for trouble, but that doesn’t have to be the case if you use the right construction techniques. The most basic strategy to avoid rising waters is to raise the buildings above the flood level, but houses that actually float off the ground when waters rush in are impressive. While this type of automated flood defense isn’t as common as elevated homes, we may see it pop up in more houses as flooding threatens to become a regular occurrence around the world. http://inhabitat.com/6-amphibious-houses-that-float-to-escape-flooding/

Phuket, Thailand may be overrun by tourists in some areas, but there are still some sweet secluded spots to escape the crowds. The stunning Keemala Eco Resort designed by Space Architects is an exclusive retreat tucked into a lush hilly landscape overlooking the Andaman Sea that is infused with vibrant colors, earthy fabrics and natural materials that pay homage to the area’s pristine landscape. - http://inhabitat.com/thai-eco-resort-delights-guests-with-woven-pods-and-other-sublime-dwellings/
