I understand the limits, but...the sound quality sucks.

+Lou Farrell that was actually a joke. Sorry you took offense. I know some things don't translate well over texts/messaging.

It was warehouse fires, a worldwide bad harvest, and three years of surplus beforehand, which had led to fewer acres planted. We do not have such a perfect storm now. New brewery owner? Sure, worry. Craft beer drinker? Plenty of options, relax.

This is some of the silliest, butt-stupid stuff I've ever heard, around 53:00 where Skip Brion tries to tell us that the State Stores' sales are up because of the executive team, and the store "rebranding," and a bunch of other crap... YOUR SALES ARE UP BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE PEOPLE, AND THEY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE ON WHERE TO BUY WINE AND SPIRITS. That's it. That's all. Shut up. Go away. Privatize.

Wow, really? Privatization means higher prices and less choices? Not in New Jersey, not in Delaware. Why guess? GO TO JOE CANAL'S or TOTAL WINE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. Open offer to House Democrats: I'll lead a field trip if you want, and we'll compare prices, selection, and service. As for the mythical $80 million we'll lose in "profits"? We'll make back most of that when the thousands of people like me no longer have to go out of state -- illegally (which is an insulting joke) -- to buy good wine and spirits from friendly staff.

What's "modernization" look like, anyway? The plans I've seen talk about more stores open on Sunday (big deal, when there are only 600 stores to begin with), freedom to set variable prices (who believes they'll go any direction but UP?), and selling lottery tickets in State Stores (taking those sales away from actual private businesses? Nice!). I have a better idea for your "modernization." It's called "being normal." You know: allowing Pennsylvanians to be adults and buy their booze in a regular store, like the folks in most of the rest of the country, most of the rest of the world.

The State Stores are done. Over. Move on. Do what the citizens of Pennsylvania want for a change, and get rid of them. The folks working in the stores will find new jobs in the new stores: employment in the industry TRIPLED in Washington State when they privatized. Just don't raise taxes when you do it: that's what causes higher prices. Duh.

Stopped here once because traffic was backed up on I95. We've been back 5 times since...and we live in Pennsylvania. Food is great, very reasonable, and a great blend of regional and everywhere-familiar. But the service makes the difference, and explains why it's not just Mamie's Cafe; you've got to add "with love." Stopping in for lunch again today, and looking forward to it.

The new visitor center is a beauty -- great view, and a rare chance to see inside a column still -- and the whiskey is the genuine article. This shouldn't be just a stop on your tour; it's a pilgrimage to a shrine.

Andrew Craven worked with me when I contacted him with my interest in homeowner's insurance. He was persistent, but not annoying, during the sales phase, and gave me information, not pressure. When I had questions, he got me answers promptly and accurately. When there was one small problem, he fixed it, again, promptly and accurately. We've only been with him for two weeks, but things have gone very well so far, and we're quite pleased. Saved about 15%, too.
