GREAT GARDEN GIVE: Its the weekend which gives you the perfect opportunity to go out and measure your garden and pledge your plot to the Great Garden Give

Abigail Willis, author of The London Garden Book A-Z is supporting the campaign and said the following of her garden:

“My garden is tiny but the pleasure it gives me is disproportionate to its size! Gardening keeps me in touch with nature and I love seeing the wildlife enjoying the trees, shrubs and flowers that I have planted. And nothing beats the joy of harvesting homegrown fresh fruit and veg!”

Please pledge you plot for the Great Garden Give

GREAT GARDEN GIVE: World Land Trust’s Great Garden Give has begun!

Garden lovers can help save the world’s most threatened habitats and species by supporting Great Garden Give, the summer fundraising campaign of World Land Trust (WLT).

The idea behind Great Garden Give is simple. It involves making a donation to save an area of threatened habitat that’s the same size as your garden.

CARBON NEWS: Mountain forests store 40 percent more carbon than expected.

It's not easy to measure carbon in mountain forest ecosystems. But a new review study in Biogeosciences found that many estimates of carbon storage in montane tropical forests have been largely underestimated.

JOHN'S BLOG: Armenia must not lose its biodiversity

Armenia, on the very edge of Europe, must hang on to what it has got. The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Tourism need to recognise that Armenia is a treasure house for biodiversity. The country has an abundance of wildlife, which no one under 60 years old has ever encountered in western Europe.

WLT NEWS: WLT staff support Springwatch at Minsmere

Several members of World Land Trust (WLT) staff joined the studio audience at Minsmere’s Discovery Centre during Springwatch 2014.

RSPB Minsmere on the Suffolk coast was a perfect location for Springwatch 2014. Not just is it a beautiful reserve, but it is conveniently just a few miles from the WLT offices in Halesworth and most WLT staff know the reserve well.

World Land Trust - Rainforest Conservation in Action
Introduction
The World Land Trust (WLT) is an international conservation organisation that takes direct action to save rainforest and other wildlife habitats. So far WLT and its overseas project partners have been instrumental in the purchase and protection of over 500,000 acres.

"The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of."
Sir David Attenborough

Mission:
  • To protect and sustainably manage natural ecosystems of the world.
  • To develop partnerships with local individuals, communities and organisations
  • To raise awareness, in the UK and elsewhere, of the need for conservation.
Read our full mission statement on the WLT website

Did you know that a donation is made to save threatened tropical forest through the World Land Trust for every wedding photographed? So far BK Photography has donated and has saved 13,000 square metres of critically threatened forest. Many thanks to Bartocz for his support and congratulations to everyone who tied the knot in 2013.
