Don’t Do This When Epilepsy Attacks

You must already know the right measures when you see someone having a seizure. How about the Don’ts? Take note and don’t ever do these things:

- Restraining the patient. You could cause injury to the person or to yourself.
- Giving water or food. You could choke the person.
- Putting spoon into the patient’s mouth. It is definitely not true that during seizure a person can swallow their tongue.
- Performing CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) - Don’t do this unless the person stopped breathing after the seizure.

Explaining ALS

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurologic disease. Here’s a quick breakdown of what the condition means:

It means that muscles don’t get sustenance and when this happens, muscle wasting occurs.

This pertains to the part of the spinal cord which contains motor neurons that signal muscles.

This is defined as “to harden” because when motor neurons degenerate, it results to hardening in the area.

When these said neurons are lost, the brain will no longer be able to control voluntary movements, thus, limiting a person’s ability to breathe, move around, walk, and so on. If you or someone you love has been diagnosed with ALS, you can work with many individuals who are willing to assist you through ALS. For inquiries on support services, contact Global Hands Inc. today.
