The National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY) has enjoyed providing information and resources to the nation for many, many years. Unfortunately, the Center’s grant from the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) ended on September 30, 2013.

Our website and all its free resources will remain available until September 30, 2014. We recommend that you explore our website and some of its most popular and useful features:

• Disability fact sheets: http://nichcy.org/disability/specific
• Special education resources: http://nichcy.org/schoolage
• Early intervention resources: http://nichcy.org/babies
• State organizations search: http://nichcy.org/state-organization-search-by-state
• National organizations search: http://nichcy.org/org-gateway

Parents of children with disabilities seeking information and support should contact their local Parent Training and Information center (PTI) or Community Parent Resource Center. For more information, visit http://nichcy.org/families-community/help/parentgroups#pti.

It has been our great honor to serve you over the years.

As the new school year gets under way, remember that educators are very important in the daily lives of children: "When you Google 'hero,' there should be a picture of a principal, a school lunch worker, a custodian, a reading specialist, a teacher, or a bus monitor. Real heroes don’t wear capes. They work in America’s schools."

National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities
Introduction

NICHCY was the center that provides information to the nation on:

  • disabilities in children and youth;
  • programs and services for infants, children, and youth with disabilities;
  • IDEA, the nation’s special education law; and
  • research-based information on effective practices for children with disabilities.

Our funding ended on September 30, 2013. The NICHCY website will remain live until September 30, 2014.
