I've been here for a beer but yesterday ate a meal for the first time. The burger was very good and cooked a perfect medium rare like I ordered. Service was good too. 4 plus.

A staple to the 3rd Ward and Milwaukee. The Ale House has great beer and good comfort/bar food. I frequent this place for lunch and happy hour because it's big and tables are easy to come by. Plus, you can't beat the happy hour deals. $2 burgers and very good deals on drinks. Casual dress, a bit noisy at times, it's a place to meet friends and colleagues.

Visited last night to take advantage of burger deal. Turns out they changed it early this week to Tuesday. So we tried 50cent wings as advertised on google search. After ordering a total of 30 for the group, we found that it was only really good for the bar area, 30 feet away. Manager was not willing to adjust the bill in light of the miscommunication, claiming that as a manager somehow she did not have that authority. Probably not really a manager then. At the end of it all, we found that they had charged us a happy hour price more than the regular list price. Had to go back again for correction. Food is overpriced if it is not on special.

It was ok.. nice scenery with the boardwalk. Had the rib melt. Pretty tasty and pretzels were good. Recommend for a bite to eat

This spot used to be a fast favorite of mine. Great atmosphere, good beer, fun events regularly. They changed their menu and now it's a lot more challenging for me (as a vegan,) to find menu options that are doable. I'm used to having to modify menu items, but the Ale house makes it impossible to do even that. The veggie burger is made with cream cheese unfortunately, and even their tots are made with bacon. I ordered the veggie wrap with no cheese, and it was salt on salt on salt. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. Super bummed. If they added some other vegan-friendly options I would absolutely be back. If you're a carnivore, you'll love this place. If you're not, you might consider some other options. :) Oh, their pretzels are great, though! ;)

4.5 stars, rounded up, service is good but their personability makes up for it, good deals, great beers at more than fair prices, lots of room to move around in, gives you a lot to work with in terms of atmosphere (bar, high tops, booths, patio) the brewery is right next door. $4-$8 beers" + $2 off during happy hour. Got a $2 hot dog, bun not toasted;( still devoured, amazing house made sauces. Gary found my glasses, thanks dude
