A Snow Day: I took a recent trip to photograph the Union Covered Bridge in Paris, MO after a heavy snow. The Union Covered Bridge State Historic Site in Monroe County, Missouri, is maintained by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources as a state historic site to preserve the Union covered bridge. The bridge was built in 1871 across the Elk Fork of the Salt River as a link in the Paris-to-Fayette road. Its name comes from the nearby Union Church.

The bridge is a 120-foot-long (37 m) Burr Arch span that is 17 feet 6 inches (5.33 m) wide and 12 feet (3.7 m) high. Joseph C. Elliot built the bridge in 1871 from local oak. It is sided in clapboard and uses wood shingles. Two earlier uncovered bridges at this site were replaced in turn due to deterioration.

Thanks for allowing me to join this group. I guess I should introduce myself. I am an amateur photographer. This is a hobby/sport for me. I love to travel and photograph my experiences. I enjoy landscape and wildlife photography. I maintain a flicker gallery, smugmug gallery, blog, and a fine-art gallery. I started out with Pentax but switched to Nikon because I wanted a full-frame camera. Today I shoot with a D850, D750, and D500. I also have a Fujifilm X-T2 but recently experienced the Nikon Z-6 out in the field. This might be an addition for me in the future. I look forward to the posts from this group as well as your discussions. This image was taken on 12/2/2018, at Grand Tetons National Park at Colter Bay. Nikon D850, Sigma 24-105mm Art Lens, f/10, 1/640 sec., ISO 160.

Castle Rock Badlands: The above is a photograph of the Sunset during a thunder storm south of our location and which was moving east. It took place at Castle Rock which is a large limestone pillar landmark in Gove County, Kansas. The formation and the nearby badlands are located in the Smoky Hills region of Kansas, which is approximately 11 miles south of I-70 near Quinter, Kansas.

Listed as one of the 8 wonders of Kansas and part of the "Overland Trail".
