We are having a tough few days, I think the shock is wearing off and we are beginning to realize all we have lost. Every time we do anything we are reminded again. I went to the chemist yesterday to get scripts filled and the lady next to me was asking about a nebulizer and I thought oh yes we had that too, then I got the script filled and when I got home I went to make up my weeks supply of mess and realized I didn't have containers to put them in. A small thing, but something else lost and then another trip to the chemist to get it. I went to the supermarket to and thought I need some cinnamon, when I got to the spices I stood there looking at them all and realized I have lost all my spices....and so it goes on.
The beautiful people in our lives, friends, family and strangers continue to amaze us and help to balance out the negative with positives. The electrical store in Harvey Norman's grabbed me when I came into the store and said it's not much but we thought this might help and gave us a toaster, kettle and an electric frypan....they thought it wasn't much, yet to us it felt like we had won lotto. Then I had to get some hard drives to send to Perth so if they can recover my data and Brenton from the computer section took the time to help me and got me the best possible price. Corrine from the bedding section was also able to help me out with pillows. It has been the personal touch and the taking time to walk around the store with us and help us get what we need as your mind doesn't function properly, when you walk into a store you are overwhelmed as you see things you had but don't have now and then the enormity of replacing it hits you again. It isn't just the financial side it's the having to make decisions.
Our lovely friends Mick and Peta came down from Perth and took us out to lunch and it was so nice to forget everything for a few hours and just feel normal.
One of our good friends died yesterday and our heart aches for his family, some things you can't replace, like the time you spend together, so next week Colin and I hope to spend some time just enjoying each other's company and forgetting things for a bit....if that is possible and to turn our focus from the fire onto coming to terms with Colin's diagnosis and working out how to maximize the time he has before he starts treatment.
I was reminded this morning that no matter what loses we suffer in life the one thing we can never lose is Gods love for us and we feel like he is holding us in his arms and comforting us. Thank you everyone who has helped us so far and for those who continue to help as we walk this long journey.
