Comparable to any of the best steak places - at an amazing price. Beautiful meat, perfectly cooked. Great sides. And an awesome little bar tacked on the side for a pre dinner drink. Get there early - lines around the block

The wait can be your, but the food is worth it. We found the mashed potatoes to be a bit salty, ramps were very tasty as was the pot de crème

Came for Sunday dinner at 8 pm. The wait took about an hour and half for a party of eight. The vibe here is very relaxed and bar-like. Service is very friendly, efficient, and attentive. We stayed until around midnight, and the staff never rushed us once. The food is absolutely worth the wait. Their axe handle rib eye is absolutely delicious, as is their hanger steak. Both of which are also very reasonably priced ($16 for the hanger steak). Highly recommend their pan fried potato and peach prosciutto. Tip: you can go to the bar next door during your wait and bring your unfinished drinks to the restaurant through their shared backyard.

Steak fans rejoice! This is an amazing spot for you red meat lovers, with steak so good you'll be salivating just thinking about it. However due to the small size of the establishment and the long grill time required for their steaks to turn out just right, be prepared for painfully long wait times. In fact, that's really the only negative about this place. The hanger steak at 16 bucks is not only the best deal in town, but one of the best steaks in town. Equally impressive is the massive ribeye for 2 and the strip with pepper sauce. Sides were great, the highlights being the spinach gratin and the truffle fried mashed potatoes. Also you can't go wrong with their iceberg wedge salad with hot bacon vinaigrette and the artichoke hearts with creme fraiche. Bottom Line: The steaks are really bomb and a fantastic value, the appetizers and sides are both great but the wait for a table is painful and the service can feel a bit rushed and inhospitable.

Absolutely great every single time I go! I have yet to have a dish here that was anything less than very good, and some of them have been downright amazing. The butcher steak is probably the best steak in Brooklyn, if not NYC, and certainly the best value at only $15. All of the appetizers, but especially the spinach gratin and the mashed potatoes, are simply delicious beyond what you would expect. I like squid, but find that it's often not prepared properly-- that is definitely not the case here, where it's marinated in some sort of delicious redwine-based magical elixir and then grilled to absolute tender, only-fork-needed perfection. Certainly the best squid I've ever had. Then there is the absolutely epic dessert... homemade blue cheese ice cream, dusted with panko, covered with candied bacon and then all of it drizzled in a balsamic reduction. These are among my all-time favorite ingredients, but this dessert manages to take them to the next level, where the whole truly is greater than the sum of its parts. To sum up, I and recommend this pace enough-- I've eaten here myriad times, often ordering the exact same thing, and have been consistently blown away. Almost everything is grilled, which should be a challenge, but they have such a deft hand that it clearly becomes a plus. Add on their amazing wine and beer selections (same owners as Spuyten Duyvil and Fette Say), and the place is like heaven on earth, if you believe in that sort of thing.

Refreshing, meaning fresh food and atmosphere. Impressive grill staff works like a fine watch. Simple basic ingredients prepared to order, flawlessly. Hanger Steak, and Lamb a must. Can be difficult to get the Ax-Handle Rare, but if medium + is your liking, this is your meat. Sides are clean and pure, artichoke, long beans, and cauliflower, all excellent. Try the Ciders. Deserts, all very good.
