Dined in with a party of 20 for my birthday. Staff was very accommodating and helpful - I was so happy. Server was great too. However, my party commented that food was a little expensive...Some half eaten plates were removed from the table when a couple of people left to use the bathroom - they were disappointed to say the least. But I enjoyed he experience. Not your typical San Antonio TexMex restaurant but that's what I like about it.

Second time here at la Gloria and second food poisoning that i get. I ordered "Quesadillas de chicharron" and "Molcajete de ARRACHERA", sadly, it wasn't arrachera, it was just eye round roast covered on guajillo sauce.... I don't get why people love this place, this is NOT authentic mexican food and they should not be selling lies.

La Gloria's menu seemed quite appealing, but I was disappointed by the flavoring. I was excited that the tortas ahogadas are made with the correct kind of bread rather than a bolillo roll, but then was surprised to find that what should be a very spicy sandwich was not spicy at all. Similarly, their campechana tasted underseasoned and couldn't be doctored up with hot sauce and salt. I believe some menu work could make this place great; however their location near the Pearl Brewery, the San Antonio River, the art museum, and the Saturday Farmer's Market means that they stay crowded regardless.

The food here is undoubtedly delicious, but the service here is pretty terrible, I'm not gonna lie. Two of the three times we've been here, we left after sitting at our table for 20 minutes plus, without being greeted. The same thing goes for when you enter the building. If it's your first time here, you are left loitering around like an idiot, wondering if you're supposed to seat yourself while other employees pass by and stare. No sense of urgency or hospitality from anyone. The one time we actually ate here, the same thing happened, but we decided to stick around and see if the food matched the service. Too our surprise everything was perfectly prepared, but I don't know it's enough to have me return. It isn't necessarily overpriced, but for the median bill, you'd expect a little more than just bare minimum diner service. Definitely not a place to dine if you are really hungry or on a tight schedule. This is more the "I'm drunk and I'm on the Riverwalk and I don't care where we go" kind of place. I'm not sure if that's what they are going for, but if they aren't, that's a problem could easily be remedied. For it to go unsolved is a real shame, especially since it's at such a lovely up-and-coming location. You would think that that alone would be enough for owner(s)/management to ensure experiences like ours would never happen, but if they are making most of their money from tourists, then I guess it doesn't matter if the locals leave unhappy. Three stars because it is a favorite among my circles.

A shitty, bland, overcrowded place for the needy ones. Very unfriendly staff, you have to run and find an invisible hostess, a ran down garden scenery dominated by a huge parking lot. This would have looked great in the 70s. Too bad of the nice river landscaping.

Nice ambience but bland+250% more expensive than authentic latin fare with better flavors. Then he got my tab wrong so it's hard to wanna pay $30 for one person and i'm not even full...

One of my favorite spots in town, right on the new museum reach section of the Riverwalk. Delicious mexican street food, great drinks and service. I like taking out-of-towners here too, it's very San Anton! It can be very busy at times with a significant wait, but I just grab a drink at the bar and hang out on one of their many outdoor benches by the river. The menu is entirely a la carte, so be prepared for that. There are no "plates" (Some old timers I know don't like it because of this). The portions are small but plated nicely and very flavorful. I've never left there hungry. Yes there are no free chips and salsa. Some people are complaining, but what do you want? They make everything in house! The chips are soooo good. It's worth it to me... If free chips and salsa is at the top of your list, there are probably 800 other restaurants in town that will gladly serve you endless bagged chips. Help yourself. This is not Tex-Mex. This is Mexican served street-style, and in my opinion, done very well.

Tacos are tiny. Everything is a la carte. No complimentary chips and salsa...at a Mexican restaurant...in San Antonio. Ate the grilled fish tacos and one hour later I am having some of the worst diarrhea in my life. Good view of the river, though.
