A menu of Mexican street foods is found at this vibrant cantina with outdoor seating & scenic views.- Google
"We started with the al pastor tacos and bistek especial tacos."
"Definitely not your typical Mexican restaurant but again it's a the pearl."

Chef Johnny should be embarrassed and disgusted at the way his vision is represented by a repulsively rude staff topped with lousy food. The staff has an attitude of entitlement as if the customer is pestering them. Beware of "CRUZ" the bartender who can't make simple drinks. He barked at me in front of everyone when I asked for him to correct my drink. His hate for his job disallows him to tell the difference between strawberry and chamoy. The menu sounds great but fails to deliver. Unless you have a bland palate and like the ambiance of "dicks last resort" keep your kids, pets, and definitely your wallets far from this place! If you don't know any better then try for yourself.

Having read mixed reviews we decided to check it out for ourselves. First the place is in a great area. The setting is laid back, casual as can be. We sat outside near the river with a great view. The food is a la carte, which some don't seem to understand. We ordered tacos al pastor, panuchos cochinita pibil, sopes coshintas pibil, elote, and tacos pescado zarandeado. To drink we tried the aguas frescas, tamarindo. The food was authentic mexican, not Tex-Mex or sort of Mexican. The waitress was terrific, we had great service. Since the food is a la carte the dishes dont come with the typical rice and beans. There are no fajitas or nachos. These are not Mexican dishes as many people like to think. Chips and salsa are not served unless ordered. The food was well prepared, well portioned and for all we ate the bill was very minimal. Highly recommend this restaurant. Can't wait for one in the Austin area!

Before you go, make sure you take a fly swatter. The door greeter and host are even flies (over exaggeration)! Our actual host was ok. Not good nor bad, mediocre. I purchased a margarita, which was $8. That's pretty high being in a disposable cup and nothing but ice. Not even top shelf, WACK!!! For dinner I order the grill fish tacos. It was good but could of had more flavor. I don't recall it being dry. I also order "queso". Canceled that order in 2.5 mili seconds. My definition of queso is liquid texture. NOT melted cheese. I could make that shit in the microwave and called it high quality cheese and sell it for $12 as well. That's a waste. It's definitely not authentic! This is my experience here. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to my family or loved one's whatsoever.

Second time here at la Gloria and second food poisoning that i get. I ordered "Quesadillas de chicharron" and "Molcajete de ARRACHERA", sadly, it wasn't arrachera, it was just eye round roast covered on guajillo sauce.... I don't get why people love this place, this is NOT authentic mexican food and they should not be selling lies.

The only good thing was the fresh avocado and that's it period. The grilled corn is boiled then thrown on the grilled to get the grilled marks . I told them it was boiled and I didn't like it then they said they just threw some on the grill and would bring me another really quick, grilled corn takes time to make. Had the street tacos they were dry as hell not good at all. Do not believe all the hype about this place. If you want real Mexican food stick to the Mercado. The food trucks trump this place hands down the older the food truck the better.

Dined in with a party of 20 for my birthday. Staff was very accommodating and helpful - I was so happy. Server was great too. However, my party commented that food was a little expensive...Some half eaten plates were removed from the table when a couple of people left to use the bathroom - they were disappointed to say the least. But I enjoyed he experience. Not your typical San Antonio TexMex restaurant but that's what I like about it.

A shitty, bland, overcrowded place for the needy ones. Very unfriendly staff, you have to run and find an invisible hostess, a ran down garden scenery dominated by a huge parking lot. This would have looked great in the 70s. Too bad of the nice river landscaping.

Nice ambience but bland+250% more expensive than authentic latin fare with better flavors. Then he got my tab wrong so it's hard to wanna pay $30 for one person and i'm not even full...
