Amazing tacos! Definitely a great place to take a date or small group. Great location. A bit crowded when I was there, but that always says something about the quality of a place.

All I have to say is that Rick Bayless in Chicago has some major competition here in San Antonio. One of the greatest Mexican Restaurant experiences in Texas. You can take a water taxi from the river banks of the river from downtown San Antonio all the way to the Pearl brewery campus. This is where you will find this restaurant. Make sure you get a seat outside to truly enjoy the street food experience. Started out by ordering a mole chicken sope followed by a platter of different taco options. We also tried the coctel de camarones served with fried tostadas on the side. The chicken Milanesa torta was also a hot item at our table. My mouth is watering just thinking about this place. One of my favorite dishes were the tacos dorados stuffed with chicken, covered in green tomatillo sauce, sprinkled with queso fresco and Mexican Crema. Chef Johnny also has several daily offerings of aguas frescas. These are traditional Mexican refreshments made with three simple ingredients. Fruit, sugar, and water. They happen to have my favorite this day which is strawberry. If you're going to visit San Antonio, make it a point to stop here.

So after seeing this place get pretty busy...I figured "it must be GOOD", right? Expecting the taste of actual Mexican Street food, it was by far the blandest tasting taco I've had in this town. It was the Carne with figured..should be great...not really. The meat practically tasted like filler. Aside from seeing that you needed to pay an extra $5 for chips and salsa....which should be granted to the customer no matter what, especially in this city! I've been to some other "overpriced" taco joints, this one is so far on the bottom of that list. The drink we were served was not Agua Fresca, it was just syrup mixed with bits of actual fruit flavor...which you should expect from an Authentic Mexican joint. I felt the place, and advertisement of "Authentic Mexican" based off the actual location in Mexico where the foods was from raised my expectations to a new level...after the first bite, I was utterly disappointed.

Not much to say other than it is okay. Skip the chips and salsa since that costs 5 bucks. The tacos and other selections are all okay and not as good as some taco stands around town. Probably a 5 star outside of San Antonio but for this area it is a 3 to 4 star max. There is better. There is worse. But the location is the best part. Wonderful outdoor seating next to the river.

Ordered the ceviche verde and elote. Dining companions ordered the tacos dorados verdes, shrimp coctel, and tacos carnitas. Everything we ordered was fantastic. I would return again and again.

This place is always a fantastic dining experience. The location by the river is stellar with a little park to let the kids stretch their legs while you enjoy a cold beverage from their robust drink selection. The food comes in smaller portions but is always delicious. The staff is always solid and takes care of you. Beautiful location, great food, great atmosphere. It's always crowded, and for a reason. This is a regular spot for myself and my family.
