Not digging the circle icons. I mean, I don't hate then, just...I dunno. Guess they'll look good for consistency. Maybe only if it's a launcher home screen thing, not in the app drawer.

Speculative Pixel launcher photoshop with circle icons and nav bar modeled after +David Ruddock's descriptions.

I don't hate this.

Yessssssssssssss! Android 7.0 Nougat is rolling out today!

No Allo, Assistant, etc. Just Nougat. (And that's OK, all in due time.)
Today is the day we've all been waiting for since March when Google unexpectedly dropped the Android N developer preview on us. Android 7.0 Nougat, as it's... by Ryan Whitwam in Google, News, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Devices, Nexus Player, Nougat 7.0, Pixel C

Duo is "built from the ground-up for the smartphone age, not the computer age, and that makes all the difference between what Duo is and what video calls used to be."
Of the two communication apps that Google announced at I/O, Duo surely seemed like the less interesting one. Video calls have been done again and again, an... by Rita El Khoury in App Reviews, Applications, Google, News, Reviews

A return to the Cupcake/Donut days.

Your butts, hold onto them, because we have your first look at the Nexus Launcher.

Say bye to the dedicated app drawer button (and say hi to the dedicated app drawer arrow and the swipe-up gesture).
According to multiple reliable sources, we believe that Google plans to debut a brand-new launcher for Nexus devices some time in the near future, likely o... by David Ruddock in Applications, Leaks, Marlin, News, Nexus Devices, Rumors, Sailfish

I'm pretty sad at the prospect of a future with no #Nexus but the #Pixel line will certainly carry the tradition. And in the end, it doesn't matter what the phones are called, it'll still be the same thing.

The Pixeling begins.
Speaking to two independent sources, we now strongly believe that Google's formerly-maybe-Nexus-phones, Marlin and Sailfish, will almost definitely be mark... by David Ruddock in Exclusives, Marlin, News, Rumors, Sailfish

I just don't understand the reasoning behind the rebranding. The Nexus line, while niche, is an established name. People know what to expect with it. Pixel has two products, a Chromebook and a tablet. I'm just confused as to what they're gaining here.

Yikes. Holding out that this is because of a preview version. I want to try Allo, but I need Google Voice or at least SMS implementation in some way. I could survive without desktop access, but not having chats sync between devices is unforgivable. If this is how it works at release, my only use of this might be for Assistant.

Major bummer. But maybe the servers aren't up yet.
I don't know what to think of this one. Of all the Allo features we've discussed so far, many are cool, some are interesting, and few are controversia... by Rita El Khoury in Applications, Exclusives, Google, Leaks, News

I love Pie Five, and the fact it's local. The pizzas, while personal size, are actually quite large, and well priced for what they are. You can also build your own, Subway-style, which is great.

Jones Bros has the best cupcakes. Add to that coffee and now ice cream (plus actual food for a casual lunch or dinner) and sometimes I don't want to leave. They also accept Apple/Android Pay.

I've always had great coffee at Fox Hollow -- though the hot chocolate I had yesterday was exceptional. I've never had any of the wine or beer, but having that selection gives it a different experience than going to Starbucks or something like that. They also accept Apple/Android Pay, which is great.

I was floored by the number of flavors at Ivanna Cone, and everything I've had so far has been great; I doubt it's possible to get anything that's not amazing. I'm docking a star because it's cash (or check! -- because it's apparently still 1993) only.
