I have been to a lot of bike shops in Cincinnati and this was definitely the one that I will be using from now on. Everyone is treated like a friend not just another customer. The owner Paul Baxter, stayed almost two hours after the shop had closed to make sure that the road bike he was selling me was in perfect working order, he even rebuilt the headset just to make sure everything was in great condition. Not typical service, not your typical bike shop, but its the only one I will be using from now on.

Unbelievable Rudeness! I am looking for a couple pairs of training wheels for a project I am working on and I haven't been able to find them at any of the box stores so I decided to try some of the local bike shops. I am an early riser and I'd been calling around since about 8am and I was getting frustrated. After looking at a number of bicycle shops websites (Montgomery Cyclery, Performance, etc) and seeing that they opened at 10 or 11am, I was pleased to see that Baxter's was opening at 9am. Hopefully I could get an answer to my question, they'd have what I was looking for and I could mov e on to other work. I waited until 9am, (although to be fair, I probably made my first call at 8:59am) and called the store. I received the store voice mail and hung up, realizing I had called too early and when I worked in retail, I didn't answer the phone until my clock said the store was open and not a minute earlier. Ok. So I waited a sec and redialed, the clock on my computer showing 9:01am. After a few rings, a young man answered the phone. "What." "Is this Baxter's?" "Yeah, why do you keep calling. Why didn't you leave a message?" This is paraphrasing. I might not have the exact word order but this is what was said. I hung up. There was no point in discussing anything with the person on the phone. After that greeting, there was no way I was going to buy anything from this particular individual or this shop. You might say to yourself, so what? If they even have training wheels, they're maybe $15 a pair. No big loss, but I am also in the market for a stronger wheelset for my mountain bike which is a much more expensive item and I'm not going to bother with Baxter's. This review only regards service. I have no opinion regarding Quality and Appeal because of the brevity of my interaction with the staff.

Paul recently bought the bike shop from the previous owner and is working hard to try and change the stigma that the old owner left behind. He is ALWAYS at the shop and is always willing to help you find whatever it is you're looking for. Something that he does that is a little bit different than the other bike shops in the area is that he buys and sells used bikes. Being a college kid I didn't need something nice since I only used it to ride back and forth to class. Since it will sit out in the rain, snow and elements a lot I didn't want to spend the money on a nicer new bike that would just get beat up by the weather. (Also the nicer the bike on a college campus the more likely that nice bike will be a stolen bike). A cheap, used bike was perfect for what I was looking for. Along with the used bikes, he also obviously carries new bikes. Paul doesn't have the most inventory on hand, but if you want something that he doesn't currently have he will be sure to order it for you. If you need your bike fixed he services them too. He also carries some skateboard gear as well. Overall it was a pretty good experience.

Complete jerk. I have never run into someone that condescending in retail. He told me that my wife should take out a large insurance policy on me, among many other insults. I came in with a posture of humility, not acting like I knew what I was talking about. He dissed me and my bike about five times in a span of five minutes. I didn't want to get into it with him, so I walked out. Campus Cyclery is out of my way, but I will gladly avoid this shop which is on my bike to work.

I came into Baxter's Fast Wheels last week to buy a new road bike, aside from a wonderful collection of used road bikes, Paul Baxter also had a great selection of KHS road bikes. He helped me pick out a Flite 500 and even helped me out with a set of lights to keep me road legal. Excellent experience 10/10 would buy from again. Paul is an awesome charismatic man.

Probably the most enjoyable experiance I can remember at a business. Great people to talk to if you can handle friendly stabbing humor...or an owner who can be straight to the point and able to get you back out on the road. Came here to get my bike repaired recommended by my dad who has both his and my stepmom's bikes fixed and tuned here. Prices are unbeatable and Paul knows those bikes like the back of his hand. I went Saturday to drop off my bike and today (Tuesday) to pick it up and I saw little girl bikes to ridiculous racing bikes being wheeled in and out. Definately a shop for everyone...please don't try to fix it yourself...leave it to the professional...its worth it!

The owner is just downright rude. It would be wrong for him to talk to an employee that was messing up, but totally unacceptable to a would be paying customer.
