Gracie Barra is one of the largest traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu organizations in the World and GB Westchase is a top Gracie Barra school in the U.S. GB schools, instructors and competitors are present not only in the US but all over the World and are committed to excellence in our teaching methods, programs/classes and focus on a balanced, long-term lifestyle for its members; together with a collection of championship titles, GB is considered by many the power house team of Brazilain Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie Barra Westchases Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Program offers top level BJJ instruction, 95% of classes are taught by GB and IBJJF certified black belts, including sparring sessions and this is just one of the aspects that sets apart GBW from academies that offer the same types of programs. Our BJJ classes are offered from 6am to 8pm, giving students ample opportunity to attend many classes each week. Our kids and adult programs are separated by skill level and age group, which helps with maintaining an organized class structure. Should you wish to compete as a GBW BJJ student, we offer exceptional competition geared classes, which focus on the official rules, drills and many other techniques used by top-level BJJ competitors that we’ve adapted into a class for the benefit of our students. Gracie Barra Westchase’s BJJ programs are designed specifically for each age and skill levels and our goal is to have a place for everyone who wants to learn BJJ no matter what their personal goals are within the sport.

The GB Westchase location specializes not only in BJJ, but also Muay Thai, Wrestling, Cardio Kickboxing and Capoeira; all with adults and kids programs. Providing a well-rounded MMA program with excellent, evolving and progressive instruction, Gracie Barra Westchase is the top Mixed Martial Arts facility in the Houston area. We offer over 60 classes per week and convenient evening class times even allow parents to enjoy a Cardio Kickboxing Class and burn up to 800 calories, while their kids learn Jiu Jitsu in the same hour!

We strive to keep our classes motivating, consistent in quality and always evolving in ways that better the general experience and results of our students.

The Cardio Kickboxing classes provide a fun and different approach to getting in an amazing workout! These classes are high energy and a little faster paced than some of the more instructional based programs. GBW Cardio Kickboxing instructors utilize variations of punching/kicking, calisthenics/body weight exercises, weights and always a great abdominal workout in every class. With these classes offered 7 days per week, you can keep on top of your workouts!

Gracie Barra Wetschase’s Wrestling Program yields a competitive training environment lead by World-Class Wrestling Coach Babak Nourzad, who competed with the Olympic Wrestling team of Iran in the 2004 Olympics. Nourzad takes a traditionally tough, yet exceptionally productive approach to his wrestling program at GBW, teaching adults and kids classes from 7 years and older; helping some students in their search for the perfection of their wrestling and competition game, some for fun, and some to complement their BJJ or MMA game. This program will challenge you limits, practice consistency and teach you the true aspects of wrestling from by a professional wrestling coach.

The Muay Thai Program at GBW is a more in depth, instructional-geared class that teaches proper form and the traditional techniques of Muay Thai, which is a stand up sport from Thailand. These classes can compliment your productivity in Cardio Kickboxing, teach you useful techniques for MMA, and are a great workout as well! Most Muay Thai classes on our schedule are followed by a sparring session, which allows students to practice in a real-time scenario.

After moving to the area and not knowing anyone, I thought I'd take up a new martial art. With Jiujitsu on my mind, I decided to make GB Westchase my new home, and I'm *SO* glad I did! The instruction is top notch from both Prof. Ulpiano & Prof. Inacio. The other coaches are equally dedicated to making sure that you understand and really do your best (not just *try* and do your best)! If you're looking for BJJ, and a Team that really takes the philosophy of "if one of us learns: we all learn" to heart: you've found it. Congratulations!

i didn't like the kick boxing classes. Are too slow, weak and lack of effort. they work under especific time with a clock timer, there is a tall guy that has a unfriendly attitude and he acts like he knows but is nothing but a show off. i don't recomend this place.

I love this place! There are a lot of gyms in Houston to choose from. I personally went with the Gracie Barra team because of the high-level instructors and the great network/cross-training it provides. I'd highly suggest you stop by and try a class (it's free, and I promise nobody is going to do a gang initiation beatdown on you). Here are some bullet points of why I would recommend GB Westchase: -Professor Ulpiano: Seemed very intimidating and then I met him and he's one of the nicest persons I've ever met in my life. Awesome instructor and funny guy. -Staff: Top notch. Extremely helpful and nice. Great instructors as well. -The atmosphere is great. There's a lot of competitors so the training can tough, and that's a good thing. People are very friendly, though, so it's a perfect balance of hard work and fun. -There is a shower (at least in the men's locker room, I'm not sure on the women's though - I've never been in there). They are also kept super clean, like Buc-ees clean. -There's a huge parking lot so you don't have to worry about not getting a spot. -The facility is very nice. One side has the BJJ mats (and looks very nice with hardwood floors around), and main locker rooms. The other side has the heavy bags/Muay-Thai kickboxing equipment, wrestling mats, and a half cage for MMA training, etc. There's also locker rooms and a restroom here. -The schedule: It's really unbelievable. No matter what schedule you work you can find time to train, or you can train 3x a day. -The network: Want to mix things up? Visiting another side of town? No problem, you can stop and train at any of the GB locations in Houston for free. My advice is if you're interested to not wait to try it out. If you get addicted like so many do, your only regret will be having waited however long you did (since all that time is time that could have been spent training). Believe me on that! It doesn't matter what age or shape you're in. If you show up to class you can/will excel and benefit from the many positives of the sport (getting in shape, stress management, confidence, self-defense, friend/team interaction, etc). Just leave your ego at the door - it can be a humbling experience! (In a good way...ala the Matrix)

I love it here joined two months ago after trying the free class and have to say best decision I have made. The professors and coaches are great they will work with you to get better. Proffesor Ulpiano really takes care of his students and teammates are also very helpful! I recommend Friday drill classes with proffesor Inácio they are tough but great for conditioning, it is worth it you will keep coming back!

Gracie Barra Westchase is a great facility with world class instructors and staff. They offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Cardio kickboxing, kids classes, private lessons and special workshops. I have been coming to GBW over the past four years. I couldn't ask for better training partners, instruction or options to train. GBW meets everyone's needs from the professionals, competitors, fitness, recreational martial artists. Give any of the beginner courses a try and see for yourself the fun and great workout at GBW. It's a blast.
