Super excited to be going on an overnight trip on the Ausable river early next month. Bonus - the hex hatch will be on too. It's gonna be a great one for the first overnight trip with my kayak.

I am teaching ECG to paramedic students. They are confused with finding the J point. I want to clarify this before going in to 12 lead, any suggestions will be helpful

It's admittedly an oversimplification, but I think of the J-point as a singularity (i.e., the center of a black hole).  I'll explain my metaphor.  Simply put, both lack dimension.  From left to right, an entire tracing of normal sinus rhythm consists of waves, segments, intervals, complexes, and the isoelectric baseline.  All of these have dimensions.  All of them have width and many of them have vertical height.  The J-point has no dimensions in either width or height because it marks a transition.  It is literally the JUNCTION where the QRS complex ends and ST-segment begins.  If the sole waveform in the QRS complex is a monophasic R-wave or a monophasic QS wave, then the J-point is where those waveforms end and the ST begins.  If the last waveform in the QRS complex is an S-wave, then the J-Point is where the S-wave ends and the ST-segment begins.  Because it is shapeless, images always mark the J-Point's position with an arrow pointing at the transition.  Below I've pasted a link to an interactive webpage from the Monroe Paramedic College that allows you to practice finding the J-Point.  Similar dimensionless points on the ECG are the apex and nadir.

Please forgive this bit of shameless self promotion... recognized tonight at the EMS awards dinner for professional achievement and for Star of Life, a good evening.  So many other that work very hard and sacrifice much in dedication to others in their time of need or comfort are as more deserving if not more so. To all my brothers and sisters in EMS thanks for all that you do.  http://myemail.constantcontact.com/News-from-Lenawee-Community-Ambulance.html?soid=1106579332028&aid=cTOFBrcoAmo
