We are planning our 2013 research agenda - if you have a minute to help us understand what would be most valuable to you, please weigh in via our LinkedIn group. Thank you!

Our community manager +Hillary Boucher opened her weekly email to TheCR Network members with this note. It was lovely enough to share with our wider community as well:

"It doesn't feel right to start this week with my usual "happy Monday!" greeting. Too much has happened in just one short week. I was out holiday shopping this weekend and it may have been my imagination, but it felt like amongst the chaos of crowds people had a little more patience while waiting in lines and were more likely to smile at the young child being exuberant in tight spaces.

While so much of our work here at the TheCR focuses on the business imperatives of community, I'm reminded these past few days that strong communities, of any nature, hold a greater purpose. They help us heal, grow and rebuild even amidst great tragedy.

I'd like to think that while the communities we build and manage are there to help reach organizational goals, they also bring a sense of connectedness and comfort to members this week."

We hope that sense of kindness stays with us for a good long while in our communities and yours.

Great read. If you can't rely on competitors to judge your progress or identify goals you are left with having to really understand yourself as an organizations - your purpose & unique value. The best way we know how to do that is through communities that help co-create that reality and pursue it together.

Love this article on leadership. "A company is a community, not a machine"

We've updated our Community Management Fundamentals deck (yep, we keep learning too). If you need to explain to someone what community management is, this is a good place to start.
