Some commenters, I think, misunderstand the point of the video. Of course you can phrase things however you damn well please, and of course how religious folks take it isn't how you meant it, but that's the point. Communication is not only what you say but how the listener hears it and understands it. If we can speak without ambiguity and be understood more fully, why wouldn't we want to?
I'll give you that much. But resigning publicly is a big deal-- especially for Mormons in Utah. The church is often a very big part of your life and quitting can be social suicide, even for Mormons out here in California. I know leaving meant losing many of my friends, even after I left quietly.
