Task 6: Algorithms and Programming- Option 1

I chose this option of creating a resource to share with other teachers so that I could use it as part of our ongoing PD at our school in Digital Technologies. It is for a Primary staff in an independent NSW school. I made this slideshow as a way of explaining computational thinking and Decomposition, with a view to tying this to the curriculum.
I found the activity on creating Paper planes to be an excellent one in teaching students about Decomposition. It has some great resources on the website Code CS Unplugged for teaching many of these
concepts.https://code.org/curriculum/unplugged

I have found this lesson by Silvia Rosenthal Tolisano to be very helpful when looking at Digital Citizenship with students. The lesson can be adapted for a range of ages and covers all the areas that are important for Digital Citizenship. #cserTask5

Task 4; Digital Systems Option 2 I made this powerpoint which can be discussed with students. I also thought a comparison could be made using pictures of a computer and body could be incorporated into the discussion. A table showing the comparison could also be created too. #cserTask4 #digitaltechnologies #computers

I found this great lesson using computers to create graphs about Pets. I liked the way this lesson is structured, giving an opportunity for a range of graphs to be constructed. A comparison could be made of the different graphs while also encouraging students to brainstorm a range of questions to dig deeper into the information.

I have used this website when looking at Earthquakes in Science. We looked at the different ways that the data about Earthquakes is represented on the website, taking particular note of vocabulary. It is an interesting website because much of the data is in real time and compares Earthquake activity around the world.

Stage 2 students could record the number of earthquakes that are happening in each state of Australia on a given day.

Stage 3 students could be asked to create a graph of Australian Earthquakes and then compare this to Earthquakes that are happening around the world. Data could be based on frequency, intensity and location.

This was a great project! Can art change our perspective? We used masking tape to create artworks in our environment to highlight issues in our school. #art   #Visualarts   #arteducation   #masking tape

Creating artworks based on Mondrian's artworks helped to understand the process of abstraction. The students created their artworks based on his designs.
