- downgrading to 3 stars from 5 - Was approached at the bar while on a date by the server who had served me briefly earlier that night (and had the check transferred from a really amazing waitress) who did not agree with my tip amount. Instead of politely asking if his service was not okay, he came pass the bartender directly to me with my signed check, and disputed the tip in front of everyone. This was not cool... I ended up giving him $15 out of my pocket to get rid of him. I would not downgrade this restaurant's 5 star rating because of this (I understand it is out of owners control), but I approached the manager who defiantly defended his pony-tailed waiter. Having worked in the service industry, I'd appreciate this from the manager, but his lack of mediation to my concern is unfortunate, hence the downgrade. - old review - The ambiance and backyard patio is exactly what you want when walking into an Italian restaurant in NYC. The S.Pellegrino water and mixed olives with the fresh warm breadbasket invite your appetite to devour the homemade pasta and sea food delivered by the authentic Italian server next. Definitely comin back with a date. Grazi

Delicious, fresh-tasting food! Especially loved their olives and the lobster special. Lovely atmosphere with varying options - an outdoor patio, a more romantic downstairs, a more casual upstairs, and a bar area.

Nice, relaxed ambiance. Pretty small - at night, you might walk by it and miss it but very quaint. Noise level pretty average compared to other wine bars in the area. Waiter was friendly although it was clear that he was new and still learning English. Had the artichoke, bruschetta and chorizo, all excellent dishes.

friendly service and food is not bad but wine by the glass is awkwardly insufficient. best to get a bottle so you don't feel like you're getting a half glass. the linguini with meyer lemon is excellent. beautiful servers!

I went to Medi Wine Bar for lunch today. Let me tell you the service was sub par by minimum. I ordered a Greek salad and asked for no bell pepper and dressing on the side. Not only did it take half an hour for my lunch to come - it was wrong. My colleague ordered the skirt steak salad - there was supposed to be cheese on it and there was little to none. When we asked to have additional cheese for the salad - the kitchen added GLOBS of Gorgonzola - if I was the owner I would have been appalled by the staff's behavior of the treatment of their customers. I have been here multiple times at night with work buddies - I will never come here again for lunch or for drinks again. A waste of my money and poor taste in customer service.

Staff was not anything impressive, small restaurant bar not atypical for area/NYC but the food was YUMMY.. oysters.. MMM, we split the 4 cheese and meat plate, fantastic and side of the brussels, nothing to write home about there but complimented the rest of our meal.. if you're in Hells Kitchen area I'd give it a go, great for a date night out. Sangria was thumbs up also.

Medi is a wonderful wine bar in Hell's Kitchen with great snacks and a lovely wine selection. A highlight is their lamb pasta and their meatballs. They also have a nice large area downstairs for large groups. Overall if you are looking for something in the theatre district that is not overpriced and is relaxing I would go there.

When: Tuesday, late afternoon With Whom: Table for 1 Ordered: Lamb Kofte & Brussel Sprout Bites What I Loved/Liked: The Lamb Kofte, yummy yummy. Absolutely delicious. Also, the bread that came to the table was very fresh and soft. I sat in the back outdoor dining area and thought it was very romantic and beautiful, it reminded me of being in Europe. Improvements: The Brussel Sprout bites were slightly overcooked, but they still tasted fine. Service/Staff: My server and the staff were very attentive.
