This Southern-minded eatery is Tucson’s only restaurant where you can order a stiff drink with your collard greens and fried chicken and enjoy an upscale-ish atmosphere. The food is in the diner vein, but the options are far more creative than your usual: sandwiches of barbecue-pinneapple chicken and a shrimp po-boy, waffle-batter-dipped hot dogs, sides of broasted sweet potatoes and fried okra, and the tot-chos—tator tots doused in cheese with jalapeños, pulled chicken and more.

Bustling pub for comfort eats with a Southern flair, from fried pickles to jalapeño mac 'n' cheese.- Google
"I had the chicken and waffles and a spinach flat iron steak salad."
"Since the place touts fried chicken and waffles, that's exactly what I ordered."

My husband and I have been looking for good fried chicken in town for years now. We visited a well known place called Strouds in Kansas City and was hoping to find something that came close to that restaurant. We stumbled on this place and within one month of discovery we have been there twice. Good value meal and the combo of Chicken and Waffles is fabulous. It is excellent, down home southern comfort food. We are always looking for a splurge day and this will be our choice. Try their Fried Pickle appetizer!

My first visit was nice. The staff greeted me promptly when I arrived. I went on a Friday afternoon and it was busy, but the server was awesome and worked seemingly tireless to keep up with all of tables. She was very friendly, so I tipped her well. I enjoyed my breakfast, which was the eggs, biscuits and gravy. I later came back toward late evening for the meat loaf "To-Go" and peach cobbler. All was great tasting, but the mac and cheese was so-so. Overall, a very nice experience and I will be returning often.

Awesome, awesome food! Loved the atmosphere, everyone was so friendly. My new "fave" when I come to Tucson to visit "The Kid" at school.

May's food is incredibly delicious. I loved everything I tried. The restaurant is nice, clean, charming, and a local spot. The food is made from scratch and the ingredients are fresh. I highly recommend trying the country fried steak or just go with an order of the chicken and waffles- you can't go wrong. They also offer Kool-Aid with a lot of the meals which I find nostalgic and refreshing.

The first time my boyfriend and I went about 4 years ago I'd say was the greatest night of our lives. There was someone incredible signing who to me looked like wanda psychs. The place was packed. Staff was friendly and food delicious. Weve been there since then and love everything when we go. This resturaunt is special to us, "our resturaunt". Thank you for being so great!(:

Great waffles. Possibly best fried chicken I've ever had.

The chicken is clucking great, and the fresh lemonade is perfect. Wait staff is slow and dry. The waffles and biscuits taste like flower. And I don't even think they used real ostrich on the booths.

This is just plain delicious. We finally made it in on a Monday. We had our pick of tables and I noticed of the people there, there was a mix of big families with kids, couples and uni's (university people) sitting up at the counter. It has a sports bar feel with a few hung AZ Wildcat's banners and tv's everywhere, but the noise level was minimal and the atmosphere was fine. We were a couple dining. We can get quite picky about ambiance, but we were waited on quickly and with good service. The waitress was perfect in fact waiting for us to decide as it was our first time, but not staying away too long. I had the chicken and waffles and a spinach flat iron steak salad. Too much food, but I couldn't decide. You will not find many healthy choices on this menu, so go here to eat fried chicken, waffles, macaroni and cheese among everything else on the menu. The menu is posted online and they were even taking orders for whole deep fried turkeys for Thanksgiving 2013. The price is pretty good considering we seem to spend $100 for two lately dining, which is usually blamed on a bottle of good wine, but the house red, cab was $5 a glass, the only red wine choice and frankly great wine! My husband had a milk stout, not much of a head, then went to Stella on tap which was a better choice. Fried chicken, sticky waffles with blueberries and bacon inside, your choice of sides and cold beer. Great mix.
