Roundup of my recent D.C. trip.  What a week.
I’m still decompressing from the blur of the last several days and, in some ways, couple of weeks.  I’m now safely home from Washington, D.C., where I went with my best friend to be honored for my ...

Fresh from the blog. You're not stomping on sandcastles, are you?
Last week, my family and I made our annual pilgrimage to the ocean to visit with family and reconnect with all that is good and true and beautiful about the beaches like the ones I visited as a chi...

Working on poetry prompts with +Bud Hunt and others. Come join us at Bud the Teacher's site. Bud posts an evocative image every day and asks us to be inspired.
For the past few years, Bud Hunt (aka, Bud the Teacher) has been posting images throughout the month of April, asking us to be inspired to write poetry. I usually jump on board, if I can, and this mon...

"How Kindergarten Came to America" looks like it would be a fascinating story of the early education movement; where it was born, and how it was brought from Germany over to the U.S. Considering there are many reforms in education happening around support for early education and its impact on an individual's entire life of learning, this book might be a good read for everyone in K-12 and Higher Ed.

Talking iPads and Learning with +Antero Garcia.

Great chat between +Antero Garcia & +Bud Hunt on rethinking how you approach integrating tablets/devices into schools.
Late last year, my colleague Thomas Philip and I discussed why we were so troubled by the ways the Los Angeles Unified School District bumbled its way through adopting iPads for its students.

Join us today at 2pm Eastern for a conversation with the White House Connected Educator Champions of Change.  Best case - smart folks talking thoughtfully about technology and learning.  Worst case: I'll say something foolish that'll be forever connected to the White House.

Win, win for you, I'd say.

A random bit o' history. Looking for middle spaces we've forgotten seems an important thing to do.

Note the last paragraph, and the reference to "forgotten middle ways." Fine example of what we might miss when we forget our history.
