WorldStage Newsonline---  Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka has unveiled the official logo of the 2018 Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Festival of Food and Identity in Osun state.
The festival, slated for July 30 – August 3, would feature an exhibition of prepared indigenous dishes from different parts of Nigeria and from across Africa.

WorldStage Newsonline---  The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, threatened to close the case of alleged fraud of $1.6 billion instituted by the Federal Government Jide Omokore and five others.

Omokore is an ally of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke.

When the matter was called, the Prosecuting Counsel, Mr Oluwaleke Atolagbe told the court that the lead Counsel, Mr Rotimi Jacobs, (SAN), had requested the court to stand down the matter.

WorldStage Newsonline---  As part of efforts to protect the lives of the Nigerian people, the House of Representatives on Thursday urged the Executive to check the sale and consumption of artificially-ripened fruits in the country and prosecute those involved in the business.
It urged the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) to immediately carry out massive enlightenment to sensitize the public to the menace.

WorldStage Newsonline---  The Lagos State Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Response Team (DVSRT) on Thursday said it received 138 cases of domestic violence against men from May 2017 to March 2018.

Mr Adeniji Kazeem, Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, made the disclosure at the 2018 Ministerial Press Briefing to mark three years in office of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode.

The event took place at Alausa, Ikeja.

WorldStage Newsonline---  Vice President Yemi Osinbajo  has called on youths in the country to brace up for political leadership.
Osinbajo gave the charge when he received a delegation of Not-Too-Young-To-Run Movement which visited him in Abuja.
He said that youths needed to be ready for political offices they intended to occupy, pointing out that leadership positions were not automatic.

The U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem would open on May 14, Acting Secretary of State John Sullivan has announced.

Sullivan, who disclosed in a message on the occasion of Israel’s Independence Day anniversary, said Israel had prevailed over every challenge it had faced over the past 70 years.

He said: “On behalf of President Trump and the American people, I offer best wishes and congratulations to all Israelis as you mark the 70th anniversary of Israel’s independence on April 19.

Kogi State Governor,  Yahaya Bello who spoke at the flagging-off of the distribution on Thursday at Koton Karfe, warned against diverting relief materials meant for the 15,874 flood victims in the state as anyone caught would be shown the way out.

Lagarde said that trade disagreements are “better resolved in a multilateral way, amid retaliatory tariffs and other barriers being erected between the U.S. and China.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, says 501,749 children will benefit from its “Educate A Child’’ (EAC) Cash Transfer Intervention Project.
The beneficiaries were drawn from four states: Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara
The UNICEF’s Chief of Field Office in Sokoto, Muhameden Fall, made the disclosure at the launch of cash transfer disbursement in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi on Thursday.
