I was wondering if there's any talk of adding Google Bookmarks as a Google Apps Scripts built-in service?  Right now they're sorta atrocious and could really use the help.

The evolution of Apps Script is here!

With add-ons you can write code once, distribute it to millions of Docs and Sheets users in an eye-catching store, and push updates out seamlessly. All the tools you need to get started writing your own add-on are available today, but for the time being you'll need to go through a approval process before you can publish it. We can't wait to see what you create!

Starting today you can now use Apps Script to easily connect to seven additional Google APIs:

Admin SDK Directory
Admin SDK Reports
Fusion Tables
Google+ Domains
Mirror (Google Glass)
YouTube
YouTube Analytics

We've also made these Advanced Google services look and feel more like native JavaScript, and revamped our documentation to include brand new samples. Check out this blog post for the full details.

Also. You aren't launching New Spreadsheets without a full Apps Script API are you?

Did you see what Apps Script just launched?

I hope you like it and use it to the fullest.

We just launched a whole bunch of new features for Apps Script, right in time for Google I/O 2013!

Some of the new features include:
- Apps Scripts in Google Docs and Google Forms (including custom menus!)
- DriveApp, a new version of the DocsList service
- an experimental, faster HtmlService sandbox
- an experimental, improved authorization flow

Check out the official announcement on our blog for more details!

I have some questions about the structure of the example code. I understand it's a simple demo about the feature of script, not necessarily show the best structure. But anyway, I would like to ask some question about the structure, to make sure the right tools are available in script.

The biography paragraph is defined by its title, and the citation seems to be defined by the format (Author, year) or so. This could be broken easily, if the user edit the document. So, is it possible to define customized tags? Or, we may identify them by the attributes. Then, it would be good to protect the content from manually editing.

Thanks! It's a great talk! With script support in Google docs, everything is possible.

Thanks again to
+Arun Nagarajan , the Apps Script Team, and fellow edu-organizers for all their support in making St. Hacktrick's Day a success.  For those looking to get access to some of the projects that came out of the day, for now you can find some of them in the Google Apps Script for EDU - Builders and Users - Community: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/112780694700423616523

Very cool. But 1. where is the link to the API? Is it classified? 2. Do you also allow other structures INSIDE e.g. in Google Doc?

There are some awesome changes to Apps Script documentation. Do check them out.

Just minutes ago we launched some major changes to the Apps Script documentation. Visit http://developers.google.com/apps-script to see for yourself.

Home Page: We completely overhauled our home page, which has a fresh look and provides more useful information upfront, such as quickstarts, tutorials, release notes, and videos.

Navigation: We've restructured the sidebar to make the site easier to navigate, grouping related content and collapsing it to all fit on the screen at once.

Reference Documentation: We have published a completely new set of reference documentation, adding more information and sample code to the methods and classes. We've also segmented the left navigation within each service, making a clear distinction between top-level services, classes, and enums.

We hope you find these changes useful, and reach out to us if you have any other suggestions. If you find a bug in the new documentation please report it using the "Feedback on this document" link in the upper-right corner of the page.

Interested in learning how scripts can be leveraged to transform systems? Join +Andrew Stillman developer of Doctopus, AutoCrat, and most recently Goobric for a day of learning!

Google Apps Scripting in Education (for Power Users)

Robotizing for Better School Bureaucracy: Using Apps Scripts to automate workflows, data feeds, communications, and document management for schools and classrooms that work better.

This workshop is aimed at the Google Apps power user who wants to be able to leverage the GAFE platform beyond the basics for organizational workflows, automated communications, data-driven decision-making, and document management. The session will focus on learning to solve everyday organizational challenges using a suite of Google Apps Scripts authored by the presenter to allow Google Spreadsheets to perform templated document merges, relational data lookups, form-triggered, conditionalized, and bulk merged emails, form-triggered calendar events, and automated text messages.   Though participants will get a basic introduction to the Apps Script code editor, the intention of this clinic is not to teach coding skills.  Participants will gain the most if they already have intermediate Spreadsheet skills, and can expect to walk away with a set of practical, menu-driven power tools for the GAFE platform that they can immediately put to use in their schools

Team
The Google Apps Scripting in Education workshop is led by Andrew Stillman, a 10 year veteran NYC public school science educator and administrator, the founder of a successful urban STEM school, and passionate builder of online spaces and tools for schools.
