Understanding a Storm Surge, one of the most overlooked hazards in hurricanes.
Whenever a hurricane threatens land, almost all of the focus is on preparing for the strong winds. It’s not always the wind that gets you—it’s the water. The storm surge in a hurricane is arguably the greatest threat with these landfalling terrors, and it’s one that too many people seem to ignore until it’s too late.

For full disclosure, I am an independent insurance agent and represent more than 15 home insurance carriers in Florida. That said, I chose Tower Hill for my home insurance quite simply because they are one of the best insurance carriers available. They offer extremely competitive and stable premiums which means I will not have to jump from carrier to carrier every year playing home insurance musical chairs. In addition, they offer a policy with several available endorsements and package options so you can get as much or as little coverage as is best for your family. Tower Hill is one of the only companies in Florida that allows you to auto pay premiums on a monthly basis with just about any credit card you choose including American Express. I like this option for convenience as well as points collection with the credit card company. Tower Hill has the proven experience and strength to make it through whatever event(s) may come to Florida. If a bad storm hits I won't be waiting on a payout from the Florida Insurance Guarantee Fund with potentially thousands of others. Unfortunately, many of the reviews I have read here are the result of people trying to use their insurance policy as a maintenance contract or folks who did not meet underwriting guidelines. These issues are due to a communication breakdown with your insurance agent not the insurance carrier.

We had a water damage claim. After "their" restoration we still have moisture in the house that can still be measured. They said not to worry about this excess moisture. The initial amount that was designated for the claim can't even cover one fourth of the damage. Please stay clear of this company, it would probably be better to pay higher rates and have decent coverage and customer service than to deal with this company

On my 2nd year with Tower Hill I received a cancellation letter because I have a dog, a Shitzu mix with 12 lbs, and a trampoline on my back yard. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! (Apparently Tower Hill went to my house without notification to complete their inspection. At least we were not notified) It seems that Tower Hill Insurance wants my kids playing video games or watching TV only, instead of enjoying the outdoors and keeping them active and healthy by doing outdoor activities. Not good Tower Hill, not a great example of insurance for parents that do try to keep their kids active and healthy.

I have never filed a claim. Yet rates seem to increase 9-14% each year. I will be dropping them this year. Rates are out of control. Myself as a consumer shall not be taken due to reinsurance issues on the companies behalf.

I have had Tower Hill for the last 6 years for my homeowners insurance based on the recommendation of my independent agent, Michael Himmel at McGinniss Himmel Insurance Agency. The rates have been consistent over this time. There have been minor increases, but nothing significant. I have luckily not had to file a claim during this time, but my father did. Since we both have Tower Hill I monitored his claim closely. I wanted to make sure that they were responsive and fair during the process. My father could not have been happier during his process. Based on the way they handled my father’s claim I will be a Tower Hill insured for life.

We are really happy with our Tower Hill experience. Samantha, our contact was pleasant, prompt and most importantly fair. If something unpredictable had to happen to house, I am glad we had Tower Hill handling it efficiently and professionally!

You know when your insurance is good or bad, when there is a claim to be made and how they respond. 1)courteous and professional initial claim 2)respond time- immediately. Appraiser- call in less than an hour and was at my front door in 2 days 3) after aproval of qualified claim ( approx 3-4 days) check arrived in less than 10 days. This company is honest an reliable.I've heard of cheaper prices, but I'm glad I paid a bit more. Choose wisely. Oh and by the way to those that have gotten drop for making a claim, sorry for the negative experience, but i have made 2 claims and i just receive my renewal notice, so maybe I've been lucky or the company has made positive changes. Update 3/1/2016: just renewed and because my roof (witch Tower Hill replaced) got an additional discount. Witch means I paid this year a little less than last year. AWESOME. I have recommended this company to every homeowner i know.

Stay away from TOWER HILL You get what you pay for. Years ago I was asked to switch to tower hill. before they would cover the home... I needed to replace the roof. 5000$. Ok, I did my part. So now 6 years later I have a roof leak. They deny the claim due to preexisting damage on the drywall. I'm not sure how the drywall inside my home has anything to do with the roof leaking. I have 2 children that now have respiratory issues due to the mold in my attic. I'm disgusted how easily they can deny my claim. recap: paid for brand new roof, leak in newer roof, denied claim due to damage on drywall. I"m submitting a bathroom claim... I guess if they pay they will drop my coverage. If I could give 0 stars I would
