You have no idea how many times I have seen that exact ADM-3a on ebay and given it a pass. So awesome! I am deeply jealous.

Now this is my kind of porn. A tour of the Clemson Computer Center from 1980.

My Retrochallenge 2013 project is almost done. I still have to move the circuit from the breadboard to a more permanent home, but the firmware I wrote seems to be working pretty well. Hooray!

+Adam Mayer No keyclick, it's just INCREDIBLY loud. CLACK CLACK CLACK.

I've yet to add keyclicks or speaker to the firmware, but it's an easy addition. I'll do that tonight!

Nice shot of a PDP-9 in the wild there at 16:05 to 16:17. It looks like those switches were "well loved". It would have been about 7 or 8 years old when this film was made, not the latest and greatest tech.

One had to enter the initial boot loader via the switches. That little program would read a fancier loader program from paper tape. For want of ROM.

I can't seem to stop finding projects to work on. I have a sick ADM-3a terminal to tend to, now.

Awesome. I have been fighting the urge to ebay one of these for years.

An ASR-33 that I picked up from a friend last week. Thanks to some kind souls on the GreenKeys mailing list, I've already been offered all the missing parts needed to fully restore it.

+Adam Mayer That GreenKeys mailing list is amazing. I never knew about it until you clued me in! I want to squeeze all the knowledge out of their heads and into mine, like toothpaste. ALL OF IT.

Woo! For Retrochallenge 2013 I'm trying to build a VT100 Keyboard to USB Converter. Because of the strange serial protocol the keyboard uses, it's a lot more complex than you might imagine it would be.

Anyway, tonight I have my first proof that my clock generator and UART are working. Next step: reading serial data FROM the keyboard.
