"What we demand is a total absence of solid facts"
In September 2013, I took up the inaugural the Susan Manning Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, University of Edinburgh.

In June, 2012, I was awarded a PhD in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh. I received a B.A. Hons from St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia in 2007, and an M.Litt in Women, Writing, and Gender from the University of St Andrews in 2008.

I was the co-editor for Forum: the Postgraduate Journal of Culture and the Arts (Issues 9 and 10), and more recently I co-organised Sensualising Deformity: Communication and Construction of Monstrous Embodiment, an international conference held at the University of Edinburgh in June, 2012.

In Spring 2013, I was the AHRC Cultural Engagement Research Fellow on 'Dissecting Edinburgh: Literature and Medicine in the Scottish Capital', a series of collaborative events organised with the English Literature and the Surgeons' Hall Museum. In July 2013, I took up the position of Wikimedian-in-Residence at the National Library of Scotland, the first programme of its kind in Scotland.

My doctoral research considered the relationship between the child-figure and re-considerations of death (un-death) in late nineteenth-century fiction, specifically that of Walter Pater, Vernon Lee, George MacDonald, and Henry James. I pair this research with an interest in the medical humanities and disability history, focusing on nineteenth-century teratological reports.

I am currently looking at the role of child’s play in the construction of the monstrous child in literature and am also researching the history of literature and medicine in Edinburgh.
Outside of academia, I enjoy baking and knitting (particularly hats).
