Come celebrate Children's Book Week with me at Addendum Bookstore in St. Paul at 11:30 am on Saturday, May 5th, when children of all ages will have a chance to meet, pet, and read to my dog, Daisy. Daisy is a ten-year-old rescue dog, a medium sized Rat Terrier/Australian Shepherd mix.

Now, this will be Daisy's debut as a "being-read-to-dog" but I'm sure she'll settle into a comfy spot in a corner of this cozy bookstore, with me by her side, and and listen attentively. Children may bring a favorite story from home to read; choose a new book from the store's well-curated collection, or select a classic picture book by William Steig that I'll bring along to share.

Addendum is one of the Twin Cities' great independent bookstores. Hope to see you there! http://bit.ly/2w7U3KO

Happy Poetry Month! There is value in submitting creative work to small, local, or independent publishers as a means of building community. Here are three of my poems, published locally. http://bit.ly/2vko75n

I'm appreciative of the Maud Hart Lovelace Award committee's work during the year to select books they feel will appeal to young readers throughout Minnesota, culminating in the announcement of the books voted "best" by those readers, announced on Saturday, April 21st at the Red Balloon Bookshop from 3 to 5 pm. All are welcome—I plan to attend. It has been a gratifying year as I traveled around Minnesota talking with students who have read The Secrets of Eastcliff-by-the-Sea, answering their perceptive questions. http://bit.ly/2EbSzhc

It seemed fitting to end my journey to British Columbia visiting the house where Emily Carr grew up; to knock on the front door and be greeted by Jan Ross, curator of this National and Provincial Historic Site; to sit in the very parlor where Emily once sat; and learn more about this visionary whose art and life I so admired. http://bit.ly/2FkYFNN
