Interesting thought. I'm not sure about comparing books with video streaming services though.

Some interesting discussion points in here. I don’t necessarily agree with them. Yes, journalists and photographers haven’t been that keen to co-operate with people who can be seen as undercutting them and taking their jobs.  

Even if they had worked together, the newspaper business model would still be broken. It was clear there were going to be problems as far back as the mid 1990s when broadband didn’t exist and most people didn’t even use dial-up Internet or e-mail. But they would try and get access to the last two if they were looking for a job or a house. 

With recruitment and property advertising bound to shrink fast it was clear that newspapers weren’t going to continue the way they had for the last few decades. That had nothing to do with the journalists.
