TESOL Trainers spent four days with the outstanding teaching faculty of San Juan School District.

During this time, we offered the K-12 teachers professional development on the Principles & Practices of SIOP. In an experiential manner, we examined the 8 components of SIOP and their 30 features.

By experiencing model SIOP lessons, teachers examined the principles behind sheltered instruction and practical, SIOP strategies and techniques.

Over the duration of the professional development, teachers drew connections between the lessons we did and their own classroom contexts.

John Kongsvik, the director of the TESOL Trainers, led the training. "What a fabulous group of teachers," said John. "They are 100% in 100% of the time."

If you want to learn why TESOL Trainer is the #1 provider of experiential professional development in SIOP and TESOL, visit us online.

If you were ever curious about the SIOP Framework or how the principles of Sheltered Instruction can support non-native English speaking students and native English speaking students alike.

SIOP stands for Sheltered Instructional Observation Protocol and has been widely used as a means of supporting English learners in the content-area classroom.

The SIOP Trainer, one of TESOL Trainers' blogs, is a place where you can find succinct SIOP strategies for all K-12 teachers.

TESOL Trainers, a world leader in experiential professional development, has been offering SIOP professional development for over 15 years.

Contact John Kongsvik. He'll tell why school districts choose TESOL Trainers over other providers.

I just spent 4 weeks with a fabulous group of teachers who decided to become TESOL Certified. It was a true gift to spend so much time with them as they developed their teaching skills.

Now that the course is over, some of them will wind up teaching locally in their communities. Some of them will find themselves somewhere abroad. All of them left the course with everything they need to teach English to non-native speakers, no matter where they teach.
