Basic, veggie-friendly neighborhood spot with a kids' play area & popular soup/salad bar since 1980.- Google
"Huge menu, chock full of gluten free options, including sandwiches."
"Insane selection of vegan/veggie dishes, too bad most of them are somewhat bland"

This has been a family tradition with me since before I could walk. I love the food and environment, and it's an extremely friendly place to go with family. Highly recommended. NOTE: I heard that it closed down, )-: , but I haven't been there in while, so I'm not sure. UPDATE: Yeah, it's closed down. )-:

The food is great, spendy but worth it. The mushroom soup is amazing and the salad bar has lots of in house made items you won't find anywhere else. My sister is fond of those scones that they will serve with lemon curd if you ask. With a family that has tastes ranging from American Midwest to vegan its nice hat my whole family can eat there.

I went to visit Old Wives Tales last week-end. I used to go there a lot with my family when we lived in Oregon. I live out of town now. I was so disappointed with the food the service, pretty much everything. It has changed a lot and I suspect it has been sold from the original owners. The food is not like I remembered it. The oven baked pancakes used be huge. Now they are very ordinary looking and flat, not much too them. I had roasted vegetables and potatoes - it was barely edible. It was dry red potatoes, a few black olives thrown in , some dried mushrooms and feta cheese thrown on it. Then there were raw onions on top. Nothing had been sauteed at all. It was pretty bad. I got some soup and even that doesn't taste the same. I am very sad that this place has gone down so much. Our waitress was marginal and was actually made a snide remark to my brother when we were leaving. Definitely willl not be going back.

This is one of the best salad bars in town. I love how the menu always changes with most items based on fresh, local ingredients. The kids play area makes this a great option if you want to have a peaceful meal.

I really enjoy going here. This place has a nice relaxing atmosphere. The waitresses have always been pleasant to talk with and eager to get anything you might want. There is a wide variety of food to explore, and I have always enjoyed everything. This is a great place for catching up with friends, talking, and even playing cards or reading.

I came for french toast. They didn't have any. However, they serve 3 different kinds of pancakes. It was absolutely one of the best pancakes I have ever had, and they serve it with real maple syrup! The menu was extensive and I can't wait to go again!

Though it seems to be a popular place on Sundays, my husband and I were fairly disappointed. The menu did offer numerous vegan options, but not being vegan, I don't have a lot to compare. My husband and I both ordered egg dishes, which were decent, nothing outstanding; but the breakfast potatoes were extremely dry and though they looked to be covered in spices, tasted rather bland and maybe even slightly undercooked. Nothing we'd go back for, especially weighing price and quality beside one another. Maybe the pancakes would be a better choice...

I have gone to Old Wives Tale since my oldest child (29) was a baby, looking for a "healthy family" place to eat. Restaurants are dependent on good cooks and good wait staff, which is impossible to always have 100% of the time, so I have very often given a restaurant several times to "wow" me. Old Wives Tales very rarely let's me down. I have gotten to know the owner over the years and what I do know for sure, without fail, her intention is to meet our needs, as patrons, in every way possible. I am always impressed with the quality and price of the food that is prepared there. Their staff, with rare occasion have been great. Patrons and staff are both human. Humans have good and less than good days. As patrons, I feel it's important to remember this fact. It makes me sad to read the last two reviews. I feel that if they were to go more than once, their experience could be different. Also, I don't go there for the "sparkle" of decor. It's pleasant and to me, doesn't affect the food or service. I'd rather they use the money received by me for the ingredients in the food and offering a fare wage to their staff. I would invite everyone to go to Old Wives Tale. I'm grateful to them for always being there for me when I need a great meal. Thank you.
