We have a Corgi, Molly...If you don't know the breed, they are rather small. we took her to the park when she was just 4 months old and she played happily with the other dogs in the small dog park, wading in the small dog pool there. After several visits to the small dog park we decided to let her out with the larger dos and she had a blast chasing and running with them. She learned to swim in the large lake. I have had several dogs over the last 50 years and must say that, Thanks to Dogwood Park, Molly is the most socialized of all of them.

I arrived there with a client and her dog to give this nine month old puppy some socialization with other dogs. The dog was barking quite a bit because of excitement and stimulation but showed no signs of aggression just excitement. They told us that we could not bring her in with the other dogs. When we asked why they said because she is aggressive. We asked for our money back and took her to Veterans Park where she had a blast with a couple of other dogs there showing absolutely no signs of aggression. The employees at dogwood park have no idea about dog behavior all they want to do is avoid any incidents at all therefore excluding so many wonderful dogs that just need a chance to be off leash and have fun. I suggest you go to Veterans Park which is free and no one there to tell you you cannot bring your dog in. I will never recommend Dogwood Park to any of my clients again.

Highly disappointed when I arrived with my 85lb Pitt-Rott mix and my 3.5lb Yorkie and I was turned away. Reason being my 3.5lb Yorkie was not neutered and with his natural increase of testosterone he was believed to pose a threat. Which is absolutely absurd.

purchased their recent Groupon, and swung in there today to check it out. Wow very impressed with the facilities, location, staff, and how busy it was. My only complaint would be that it's to far from my house (40 minute drive), they should probably look into expanding their parking lot, and their fees seem a tad expensive. Not sure what other parks in the country cost, but (as of this writing) this park is 35/month for one dog and 37/month for multiple dogs of the same family. Their annual membership is 289/year for one dog, and 309/year for multiple dogs in the same family. Which can be split into 2 or 3 payments for free. I feel like 25 bucks a month would be a much more appropriate fee rather than 35, but if you buy the annual membership it ends up being around 25 bucks a month. Besides the fees this park is absolutely wonderful if you own any type of dog. It's a 42-acre off-leash canine paradise. Their land is fenced in, and contains "Lake Bow Wow" which is 2-acres with a little fountain in the middle. They have a small dog area for pets under 25 pounds that includes a small lake called "Lake Fifi". They have Barkham Woods, which is 10-acres with nature trails. A night dog area, which is 4-acres of lighting field for night use. They have an agility area, a playground for dogs and kids, and a rental acre for special events and parties. They also have stations spread around to pick up your dog droppings. The park also recently added a dock diving area that you often see in competitions. I can't remember what the fees were to use that. They also have lots of tennis balls around the area you can use for free. One of the staff people let me borrow a leash today since i forgot mine and let me keep it; thought that was really nice. Their hours are dawn to 10pm every day. They close at 4pm, but they will allow you to stay past 4pm. I was really impressed with how many people were there, and how clean the whole area was. I'll definitely be back!

Before we moved out of Jax, we were members. Returned to Jax had to become a member! Owners have changed, and so have the welcome of aggressive dogs. My dog got bit deeply on the side of her face. I found her sitting by the gate to leave. Hey, you know they are ultra protective upon registering you. No agressive dogs allowed the office pleas. I observed the clientele playing so rough, I didn't feel safe! Suddenly this fantastic dog park I couldn't get enough of was becoming a war zone! So disappointed this once welcoming dog park is no longer. One day the wrong dog will be bit. It's just a matter of time.

I've been an annual member of this park since March of 2013 and go 2-3 times a week but have decided not to renew. I own a 2 yr old, 110 lb Rhodesian Ridgeback who on each of the last 4 visits has received multiple puncture woods from dogs that bite her sides and back. She has been trained to submit and not retaliate. She very seldom whines when this happens so it makes it very difficult to identify specific dogs and their owners. Unfortunately, this has happened before but never concurrently and not as frequently. This isn't a slam against the park but I've noticed an increase in aggressive dogs and owners who are too busy socializing or texting to supervise their dogs. I've tried to compensate for this problem by spending more time in the fenced wooded area. As many are aware, this dog park is built on a land fill and in the forested areas garbage and broken glass are visible on paths not frequented by people but by their dogs. A month ago, my dog unfortunately got into something on one of these paths. I'm not sure if she got stung, was bitten by a water moccasin (yes they are here) or ate a toxic piece of garbage. Whatever it was, she had a major allergic reaction. Her neck swelled up, along with her cheeks and her ears. 2 days of taking benadryl solved the problem but it is an experience I don't want to repeat. She loves socializing with every dog she meets at the park but unfortunately the risk to her well being isn't worth the compromise.

Visited Dog Wood today for the first time. All I can say is - awesome! Wasn't sure what to expect but had a great visit from start to finish. Park employees were very nice and helpful, gave me a tour first and shared some helpful hints for a novice dog park person. My dog did great and had a blast in the lake. He played with several other dogs and everyone was well behaved. Never having been to a dog park, much less one so big, I wasn't sure what to expect. Grounds were very well maintained, plenty of water stations for the dogs and lots of places to explore. We will definitely be back. Thanks Dog Wood!
