Summer is a great time to make probiotic veggies. Check out this recipe for Kale, Cabbage and Lemon Cultured Veggies:

The flavors of kale and cabbage blend together wonderfully in this lemon-infused blend of salad vegetables. Add this fermented dish to salads and soups, or place a spoonful or two on top of scrambled eggs.

Selection:
Choose cabbage and kale that are fresh and haven’t started to wilt.

Ingredients:
1 head of cabbage
4 cups kale
1 lemon
½ of a medium onion
4 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons sea salt
1 teaspoon sugar
filtered water

Starter Culture:
Culture isn’t necessary for this recipe.

Instructions:
1. Wash the veggies
2. Remove the tough outer leaves from the cabbage. Core the cabbage and cut it into thin slices.
3. Remove the thick stalks from the kale and break it up into smaller pieces.
4. Place the kale and the cabbage in a bowl. Add the sea salt to the bowl and stir it into the cabbage.
5. Peel the lemon. Remove as much of the pith as possible. Cut the lemon in half.
6. Peel and dice the onion
7. Peel and mince the garlic
8. Add the onion and the garlic to the bowl and stir it in.
9. Divide the contents of the bowl into two fermenting vessels.
10. Add half a lemon and a couple cloves of garlic to each container
11. Create brine by adding 2 tablespoons of sea salt to 4 cups of filtered water and stirring. Add the sugar and stir it in as well.
12. Fill the containers with brine. Leave room for the weight.
13. Add starter culture at this time. If you plan on using it. Get rid of any air bubbles that exist in the container.
14. Press the weight down into each vessel. Leave 1 to 2 inches of headspace at the top of the container.
15. Seal the container
16. Place the container in a dark place with a temperature of 72 degrees F

Fermenting time:  Start checking after 3 days

Did you know that acidity can cause BONE LOSS, WEIGHT GAIN, OR DIABETES? Many of us have a diet high in animal foods and low in vegetables can cause severe and prolonged damage to the body due to high acidity.

At Living Arts Wellness, we use pHour Salts (alkalizing mineral salts) and VitaMineral Green (concentrated super food green powder), alkalizing mineral salts and green food that help to bring the body into balance by controlling dietary and metabolic acids!

Ask us about the PH miracle whole body cleanse which is designed to eliminate damaging acidity which causes the following problems:

1. Cardiovascular damage, including the constriction of blood vessels and the reduction of oxygen.
2. Weight gain, obesity and diabetes.
3. Bladder and kidney conditions, including kidney stones.
4. Immune deficiency.
5. Acceleration of free radical damage, possibly contributing to cancerous mutations.
6. Hormone concerns.
7. Premature aging.
8. Osteoporosis; weak, brittle bones, hip fractures and bone spurs.
9. Joint pain, aching muscles and lactic acid buildup.
10. Low energy and chronic fatigue.
11. Slow digestion and elimination.
12. Yeast/fungal overgrowth.

I received a massage with Deb as a gift from my honey. I have been several places around Fort Collins and this was by far the Best Massage I have gotten to date.! She made me feel comfortable and really listened and focused on what I needed worked on. The room was clean and comfortable and, she was professional and had a wonderful manor. Deb is very good at what she does, and actually put me to sleep, that is a first! I left full of energy and pain free wich is pretty uncommon for me. I will be sure to visit again, and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a fantastic massage.!

i recently completed the Living Foods class, as well as got my first colonic! The class was fantastic. Lots of great food, great people, and great info, with plenty of recipes and handouts. It was exactly what i was looking for. There were many things i had been wanting to try, but was either intimidated or just never took the time to really put in the effort, and this class made it easy to understand. We tried something new ever week, from sprouting to fermenting, and i feel confident enough now to continue on by myself! Celeste is such a warm, caring person, i really enjoyed getting to know her as well. With the colonic, she explained everything very well, kept me calm, and always made sure i was comfortable. I will definitely be going back, and would highly recommend this lovely little place to anyone interested in increasing health and wellness!

My husband and I had a couples massage here with Celeste and Aaron. Living Arts Wellness is located in an adorable house, and the space that the massages are done is extremely comfortable and clean. Celeste and Aaron were incredible therapists, and both my husband and I had a great experience. I would HIGHLY recommend this place if you are looking for highly skilled therapists and a comfortable environment! I could not be more pleased!

My first visit to Celeste was in November for a neuromuscular massage to help ease occassional recurring sciatic pain from a prior surgery in 2006. The whole experience was very comfortable and professional and the results were even better! My pain subsided almost immediately and throughout my entire pregnancy the sciatic pain has not been an issue! My second visit was for a prenatal massage in April, and again, was very happy with the experience. It was relaxing, comfortable, and Celeste is extremely knowledgable. I am so glad that I have visited Living Arts Wellness and look forward to my next visit!

I've been going to Living Arts Wellness for colonics and massage for many years, plus a class or two. Highly recommended! Celeste is great...very caring, skilled and knowledgeable. The prospect of colon hydrotherapy can be kind of scary before you've tried it...the fear of the unknown. But Celeste is very good at putting you at ease and making things comfortable. A very clean and safe process. After my first colonic I wondered why it took me so long to get myself there!

As a massage therapist for nearly 20 years, and a two-time cervical fusion survivor, I can attest to the skills, compassion and therapeutic treatments offered at Living Arts Wellness. The best, simple as that. This is where I find relief from the wear and tear on my body, from providing body work myself or from the stress and tightness experienced from the fusions. Fantastic, warm environment and the best treatment available...win/win all the way around!

Amy is an amazing therapist! She has helped my wife so much with stress relief. My wife used to work at a massage office and is very particular about therapists and their capabilities before she endorses one. She has given Amy her full endorsement and will see no other therapist. Thanks to Amy, my wife enjoys a much more relaxed and enjoyable life.
