Disabled ~ Disability Advocate ~ Business Consultant ~ Firearms Instructor
type 100+ wpm ~ Customer Service call center 25 yrs ~ Firearms intruction for CCW & Personal protection in & outside the home
Disabled ~ Fun ~ Sometimes Loud ~ Sometimes obnoxious ~ Sometimes Goofy ~ Tattood ~ Gun Luving ~ Big girl ~ Lookin to learn the Voice Over & Audio book Narrator profession so I could possibly do some work & have a purpose again!
Moved into my first apartment the week before I graduated high school due to my parents divorce & my mother's inability to keep three kids. Told I was old enough to become an Emancipated Minor so I could live on my own & that's what happened. I was a 2 FT job, hard working girl since I graduated high school in 1980. Never considered trying to attend college.
In 1987 a couple of friends moved to Las Vegas & I went with them. Found a job the first week there an off I went to spend my days working & my nights partying! Met a lot of friends & was having a great time playing music & having fun. Then things back home changed & my mother asked me to come home & help out with my Grams, which of course I did. Again found 2 FT jobs & off I went. This time I fell in love with my supervisor & pursued her for a year before she gave in. Always told her I wanted to move back to Vegas & hoped she would come with me. Long story short the opportunity came up & we ended up back in Vegas. Trying to make a life for ourselves.
In 1999-2000 I started having trouble walking & spent a year going from doctor to doctor trying to find the problem. Lost my mother to breast cancer in 2000 to add to the pain. In 2001 I finally found a doctor who knew what he was doing & thru MRI's & other tests found out I had Degenerative Disc Disease. At this point I had 5 discs missing in one spot, leaving bone on bone. Was told I would just keep losing discs until I was pretty much paralyzed.
Was given a hospital bed & told I'd lay in it & do nothing the rest of my life & I was 38 yr old. I didn't agree with that idea and I've spent these 13 yrs since pushing myself to move everyday & go out and try to do something with my life. In 1999 I started college earning a BSBM & MAOM. Started my doctorate with the idea this title would give me an edge to try and start some type of business. However, after the third year & with only 24 weeks left of "book" classes before my dissertation work, I was told by the doctors I had to remove myself from the program for medical care ~ that was in 2009. Always hoped I'd get a chance to finish & that has not happened yet.
I've always been a gun lover so I tried to keep up my shooting skills & thought maybe becoming a firearms instructor would give me something to do that I loved even if I didn't make much money at it. I also try to help other disabled people in any way I can with any aspect of help that they need.
After 3+ years of basically doing nothing I would like to try to learn the voice over or audio book narration profession. This is something I always wanted to do but never had the right opportunity. I talk a lot & have been told I have a great phone voice. Must be all the years of customer service call center work. Hoping that will lead me into this profession in some way so I can have something to do again, give me that purpose again to get up each day! Sure I'd like to make money at it but right now I'd just like to have something to do.
if anyone thinks I might have what it takes hope they would be willing to help me get started! I'm willing to learn! I'll be 52 in 2014 and I'm hoping the 2nd half of my life will be better than the first!
I LUV meeting new people so please say hi or join my circles or follow me or something. I'm a people person and sitting home by myself all day, every day is really not how I saw my life!
