Holly McCarthy is a Meteorologist and Reporter for KETV Newswatch 7. Holly grew up right here in Omaha and has been fascinated by weather, especially severe storms, since childhood. “I’ll always remember standing outside with my father on warm spring nights and watch thunderstorms roll in.”
After deciding at an early age that she wanted to pursue a career as a meteorologist, Holly eventually went on to earn a bachelor of science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln majoring in Meteorology/Climatology with a minor in Mathematics. “I began chasing severe storms during college and eventually caught my first live look at a tornado while working as a Meteorologist at KLBK in Lubbock, Texas.”
Working in Texas was adventurous in the spring, but Holly found herself missing the snow, the change of seasons and Nebraska Football. She is happy to be back in Nebraska and is excited to cover the variety of weather this state has to offer. Holly has earned the distinction of Certified Broadcast Meteorologist from the American Meteorological Society.
