Excellent analysis, data, and discussion in this Five Thirty Eight post. We need better terms and dialog than simply "diversity", "segregation" or "integration", as statistical measures show a more nuanced picture of our cities.

See also the Ross Douthat article (from where I found the 538 post) and the Atlantic article

This was bound to happen. I love ride-sharing services (so inexpensive yet convenient), but their cost-cutting is primarily through avoiding regulations and laws. AirBnB will be next.

Wow, this is the first time I've seen VR tech actually working smoothly -- like how we thought it would back in the 80s and 90s, when I was a kid.

Another fantastic column today by David Brooks. I really think he is closest to the pulse of America today... but aside from recognizing and diagnosing the problem, what are the solutions?

This is a very interesting list of reasons for understanding why people doubt climate change.

I don't quite understand Scott's point on #4, but the rest make sense to me as a scientist, statistician, and predictive modeler.

Best line: "climate scientists are the Hillary Clinton of scientists"

This blog post has some interesting points... it's not even as political as the title suggests, but is more about the nuances of Trump's claims and his motives.

This is an interesting map... I've been to 5 of the top 10 cities/towns mentioned in the article, and grew up near Elkhart!

Scott Adams has been claiming for some time that there a parallel realities going on right now... it makes a lot of sense. Today, David Brooks had a line that agrees: "This is no longer a country in which everybody experiences the same reality." Very interesting.
