i live in dublin for the last ten years, and always went to the george and used to have some fun there, lately though, the bouncers would refuse you just because, and when asked if there is any door policy that is in place, they don't answer just refuse, there is never a manager available to sort the situation and when i actually rang 5 minutes after the incident happened and spoke to a manager, she told me to ring back in ten minutes that she will check what was happening, i am still waiting for her to pick up the phone. won't be wasting my time going back there.

Gay bar and nightclub. Very nice atmosphere in there, outside smocking area during summer time features a second DJ. It's always very busy as there aren't enough gay clubs in Dublin

The epicenter of queer culture in Ireland, The George, for all it's faults, has flown the rainbow flag for the LBGT community for decades. It was opened in 1985, eight years before homosexuality was legalised in Ireland, a fact that is still sort of astonishing. The music is housey with Madonna and Lady Gaga thrown in for good measure and the long running bingo nights are a highlight. There's a door fee at the weekend, which doesn't deter the loyal crowd who continuously pack the place week in, week out. It's such a fixture in Dublin that it's sort of hard to imagine the city without it.

A staple of the gay community in Dublin, this bar can still be a great place to go for a night out. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming so anyone can enjoy a night out here.
