Excellent guacamole with fresh tortillas. Specials are great. Get the 'pineapple' margarita! Takes Open table reservations. Happy hour at the bar (if you can find a seat).

Great food, awesome atmosphere, if you can request to eat in the outside area, do it. Don't miss out on the guacamole appetizer, and the sweet plantains side!

Finally made it to Fonda this past weekend after longingly passing it on the street for months. It was absolutely delicious. So delicious, in fact, that we made it back a 2nd time in the same weekend. Brunch is a must. You pretty much can't go wrong picking what to eat. The outdoor patio is fantastic when it's warm enough out. Even the beans and rice are loads better than any other mexican place around. Definitely want to go back to try a margarita.

I am a huge fan of Mexican food and had a great meal recently at Fonda. My fiance and I had the guacamole to start which comes with a good portion of warm tortillas and chips. As for entrees, I ordered a sauteed shrimp dish served over creamy rice and beans while my fiance got skirt steak; we shared a side of plaintains. I really like spicy food and these dishes had a good amount of kick, so beware to those who can't do a lot of spice. Decor is fine and the space appears small, but they have outdoor seating in the back. Service was extremely helpful. My fiance had to send her skirt steak back because she has a cream/dairy allergy -- the sauce contained dairy even though the first waiter said it didn't have any. The second waiter who helped us quickly took care of the issue and even comped us the entree. Great customer service!

I had never been to Fonda and went for valentines because they had a reasonable price prix fixe. I'll start with the bad. We had to wait around 30 minutes in the freezing cold after arriving at our reserved time, the hostess mumbled our name so quietly if we hadn't been right behind her we wouldn't have heard and I'm wondering if that was her intention, tables seated after us were served guac and drinks before us even though we ordered before them, and they ran out of one of the desserts which I had been excited for. Otherwise the experience was pretty good. The guacamole was good and you could get it with chips or tortillas which worked out well because my girlfriend and I prefer different things. The sopa de tortilla was terrible for me, borderline inedible. It tasted like a bowl of salty chicken gravy. The flautas were amazing, fresh and crispy and highly recommended. The pollo norteno was good as well, well seasoned and the cured red onions gave it a nice contrast. My girlfriend got the carne asada which was cooked well and not too mushroomy, the sauce was rich and creamy and we both enjoyed it. For dessert I we had the tres leches and some apple empanadas. The tres leches was very good though I didn't enjoy the empanadas. I had a hibiscus margarita with my meal, I'm not a huge tequila fan and it was ridiculously strong but I could see it being enjoyable. Even with the negatives I would definitely return to Fonda, I hope I can update my review to 4 stars next time.

This is one of my favorite Park Slope spots. I always get the same thing - Chicken Chilaquiles Rojas and a Rosalita (hibiscus flavored frozen tequila drink). Food is always reliably delicious and the drinks are fabulous. I think the bottomless brunch option is a good deal. Service is always very good, if a little too attentive at times. Guac is delicious as well!

They don't sell burittos that's the only problem. The bartender make good drinks. They give you a small portion of rice to share between 2 people. Food portions are decent just the right size. The guacamole and chips were really good.
