................Net Impact CEO Liz Maw................

Liz Maw joined Net Impact as CEO in 2004. Net Impact is a nonprofit membership organization for students and professionals interested in using business skills in support of various social and environmental causes. During Liz’s tenure, Net Impact has tripled its chapter network to more than 300, formed partnerships with over 50 global corporations, and developed multiple new programs that engage students and professionals in sustainability.

Liz is a frequent speaker and writer, with blogs appearing in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Huffington Post, GreenBiz, and World Economic Forum, which recognized Liz as a Young Global Leader in 2010. In 2011, Liz was named one of the 100 most influential people in business ethics by Ethisphere. Liz is also a Board Member of the World Environment Center.

Prior to leading Net Impact, Liz's professional experience included strategic consulting to nonprofits with the Bridgespan Group, as well as fundraising and direct marketing for nonprofit organizations in New York City and Washington, D.C. She holds a BA with honors from Yale University and an MBA from Columbia Business School and the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

James is a partner at Purpose. He is responsible for scaling the impact and reach of Purpose’s work, including the funding, corporate structure, and growth of the organization, and is currently heading Purpose’s work on consumer activism and the new economy.

Prior to Purpose, James led major projects on sustainability, technology and economic development for McKinsey & Company, including developing green stimulus proposals for the Australian Prime Minister and former US Vice President Al Gore, developing strategy for the ONE Campaign against global poverty in Washington DC, and leading the Russian national carbon efficiency project in Moscow. During the 2004 US presidential elections, James ran online strategy for a widely publicized campaign opposing Bush administration foreign policy that raised millions of dollars in small online donations.

An Australian native, James attended the University of Sydney and holds a PhD in Physics (experimental) from Cornell University, where he discovered a new relationship between the geometry and quantum mechanics of high temperature superconductors. His technical work was published in peer-reviewed journals including Science and Nature. He also worked on development economics and game theory before realizing he’d rather spend more time outside of labs. He is a fellow at Australia’s Center for Policy Development and an affiliate at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society.

................No Impact Man Author Colin Beavan................
Colin Beavan is an American non-fiction writer and internet blogger noted for recording the attempts of his family to live a "zero impact" lifestyle in New York City for one year. The rules of the experiment included producing no trash save for compost, purchasing no goods except for food grown within a 250-mile radius, using no carbon-based transportation, and using no paper products, including toilet paper. He and his family are the subject of a documentary, No Impact Man: The Documentary. A book about the year-long experiment was released in September 2009.

Beavan was named one of MSN’s Ten Most Influential Men of 2007 and was named an Eco-Illuminator in Elle Magazine's 2008 Green Awards. His blog was named one of the world’s top 15 environmental websites by Time Magazine.

In May 2012, Beavan announced he would run for the United States House of Representatives seat representing New York's 8th congressional district, running as the nominee of the Green Party. Beavan lost the general election to Hakeem Jeffries, a member of the New York State Assembly.
