“Terrific” coffee, “amazing” donuts and fried chicken with “exotic rubs” are the forte of this "hip" American local chain, whose “funky”, “tasty” flavor combinations “take the cake”; a “pleasant” staff “moves you along efficiently” in a no-frills setting that many deem a “fried-food nirvana.”
I had a chocolate and lemon doughnut as an appetizer. Both were good. As the main course I had the chicken sandwich with rooster sauce. Also quite good. The sauce was spicey deliciousness! The chicken was a little salty and a bit dry and stringy at 1 end- in that way that chicken made on a grill sometimes is. That said, I'd get it again. Positives outweighed the negatives
I'm sad that I don't live near enough to be a regular. I want to try everything on their menu. I got a half dozen of the hot and fresh; cannot pick a favorite. I also got the buttermilk ranch fried chicken. Everything was outstanding! The service exemplary! The location was quaint even though there is no parking. Next time I'll get a hotel close by and take public transportation or walk. I guess that makes it a destination eatery.
My favorite donuts are the strawberry lavender donuts. The donuts are light and airy and they don't make you feel weighted down after eating them. They have great coffee as well. I haven't had a chance to try the chicken, but I will soon. Everyone I know raves about the chicken. I almost feel like they could expand because they are always so busy when I go in. The workers are very nice and friendly. I like supporting local businesses.
Save your money and go to Dunkin donuts. There was hardly an assortment of donuts - they we're literally all the same bland cake donut with different color sprinkles. the chicken doesn't start until 11 and don't expect any courtesy for them to start t a few minutes earlier no matter how far you came to try this place. What a waste of money.
