Apologies
This morning I had a good friend graciously point out that in my last post I am being a whiny bitch, that this a public blog anyone can read so I shouldn't be talking shit or complaining about how my remarkably fortunate lifestyle isn't quite total nirvana....

Great hostal, owner was very helpful. beds, location, wifi, showers, absolutely nothing to complain about. Note that google maps might not have the right location. It's 1a Calle Oriente on the corner of 1a avenida norte

The food is good, but it's way more expensive than other restaurants in the area of comparative quality. Also they automatically include a service charge which irks me.

Best place I've stayed in all of Belize so far. I've been traveling through the country for 10 days now, different place everyday and this place was by far the best, not just the value, but the service and quality too. The rooms were big and gorgeous and spotlessly clean, included fridge and microwave. Great water pressure, hot showers, very decent wifi (they don't have very fast internet anywhere I've been in Belize so far). And the price was cheaper than anything I've paid so far (I paid $70USD for a room upgrade but standard rooms are $45). The restaurant is likewise delicious and very reasonably priced. Honestly this is a great base of operations for any Belize tour, it's been a few days since I've stayed there and every new place I stay just makes me appreciate Yim Saan more and more

Website lists rooms as being $54, They quoted me $79 at the door and then neglected to inform me that they would also be charging a 20% gratuity.. The lodge is about a mile away from where it says it should be on Google Maps for some reason too. At least one of the places its listed. Also the rooms aren't very clean, they smell musty and are cramped and are old and poorly furnished, the beds are unbelievably uncomfortable, There is no AC and the Wifi is painfully slow. There are so many other better places to stay, please don't waste your vacation time here

For what you get, this place is unfathomably expensive. Definitely not worth the outrageous price. Water pressure in the showers is abysmal, hardly a trickle. The "continental breakfast" was a joke. Literally a few pieces of watermelon and stale cereal (no milk!). I was trying to get an early departure, but they didn't even unlock the breakfast room until well after 7:30 after I had to pester them several times (the restaurant where you pay for breakfast was open at 6am, of course). If I had known what I was waiting for, I wouldn't have bothered. The internet was also quite slow. I've stayed in 10 different places here in Belize and this was by far the most disappointing stay I've had so far. I felt extorted and deceived. You can easily stay at a place twice as nice for 1/4 of the price (I literally stayed at such a place the next day, search for Yim Saan's Hotel) To the credit of the hotel, the rooms were clean and the staff were helpful and helped me get some laundry done same day.
