Obscure Underworld
Bank-Monument Underground Station, London, England

Another image of Bank Underground station. I have actually taken this image before but never uploaded it as when I got home I noticed that I cut part of the archway off and this really annoyed me. This was a revisit image and it came out the way I imagined it. I really enjoyed processing this image although it was quite difficult getting all the tones and shadows balanced out but I think I got it there.

I don't know what it is about Bank Underground station, there just seems to be a lot of stuff to take images off. The tonal contrast really attracted me to this escalator and the way the light shines off certain parts of metal. Had to time this one quite well as it is normally a very busy escalator. Hope you all like this dark, high contrast feel to this, let me know what you think.

Just had a thought, I have decided to run a competition for the next cover photo of this group.

As long as its London related, it can be of anything, use your imagination. Closing date is 6pm BST next Friday so you have a week to do it.

Post it here and tag it #londoncovercomp  so I can see it.

Enjoy and Good Luck!

Hey Everyone, I am finding that I don't have enough time to look after this group as much as I would like so I am looking for volunteers to help me moderate and help push this group forward.

I would like all of my followers and friends to get involved in a little photography project that I am currently running. What I would all like you to do is download this RAW file of mine

http://db.tt/9tchiovx

and basically I would like you to edit it in anyway you see fit, you have complete flexibility on what to do. When you have done, please email me to

info@aaronyeomanphotography.co.uk

Please keep the file around 2mb or less please. The reason why I am doing this is that its just a little experiment to see how other people interpret my images and how they compare to mine. I have about 5 or 6 entries so far but I will reveal everyones in a blog post in the next week or two. The more that get involve the better :-). Thank you to those have done it already

Starry Starry Night
Skelton's Lodge, North Yorkshire, England

You may have thought that I had abondoned my Google+ account however I just put it on hold to concentrate on other things and I see that Google have also improved few things so I thought I would revisit :-)

This is Skelton's Lodge, an old, abandoned ruin of a Hunter's Lodge in a small village called Levisham, North Yorkshire. I met up with Mark Hepples  during my latest trip up North for the Bank Holiday and Mark suggested that we go to this place and the weather looked favourable. We both had wanted to try out Star Trail photography. We had attempted it few weeks prior to this image around the M62 but had all sorts of problems. I didn't have my lens correctly focused, my lens was fogging up and camera equipment getting dew all over it. Also the M62 lights was confusing the post processing program I used called StarStax so this time I was determined to get it right :-).

We got there around sunset to get positioned and I decided to take a portrait view of the lodge and then we waited and waited until it was dark enough to get 30 second exposure in ISO 800-1600 range at f5.6, I opted to go for ISO 1000 in the end. Once it got dark enough we let our remote timers take as many 30 second exposures we needed. We did find that even though it is Summer here in the UK now it was getting rather cold just stood around and so after about 40-45 minutes we decided to call it day and also as it was getting late (can't believe how light it stays outside). Before be left we lit up the lodge with a flash, inside and out and also a torch, I really enjoyed light painting, something very new to me. This will probably be the only Star Trail at the moment until it gets darker again (I would have never thought I would have said that) as it stays too light throughout the night during the Summer months so we both said September onwards maybe better. I have noticed that the StarStax program strips the Metadata so I will try and include as much as I can for you all.

A few things we both learned from this experience, take more warm cloths (in my case not Marks) ;-), take flask of tea/coffee, a portable seat and ideally stay out longer to get longer star trails.

I can't wait to revisit this type of photography as it was really interesting.
