Walked out without ever being served. There were only a handful of people in there - perhaps the same number of groups as the number of people working there. I sat at the bar where several groups were "waiting for their groups to be seated" (remember, the place was largely empty). I waited patiently for someone to hand me a menu our offer a drink. Listened to a lengthy conversation by someone in the wait staff with a couple at the bar about cheese they were eating, during which there were several glances to me. The host came by and did something with the register and also ignored me. When the waitress walked away without acknowledging me I got up and left. I'm now enjoying a tasty craft beer at Cambridge Brewing Company served by friendly, knowledgeable staff. Won't be giving the Blue Room a second chance.

This is already a while ago, but it still frustrates me. After dinner we left the place and shortly after the owner followed us (my girlfriend and me) outside in the night. He came very close and complained loudly that we did not tip enough and that his staff mostly works for tips. He was aggressive and loud, truly physically threatening us. We gave him ten bucks to walk away.

Excellent dinner here for a second time. I've ordered or sampled 5 entrees and they were all excellent. The service has always been personable and patient with questions. Small but quality local beer selection. I highly recommend the Crystal Valley Chicken.

Very disappointing food. The mussels had an unappealing broth which was *way* too salty. The over-salted bread meant I just had to abandon it (and I'm not averse to salt per se). I shared a side of their potatoes, which were under-cooked with an unpleasant taste, perhaps they'd spent too much time in the light. Followed it with a desert - citrus/cream type thing, with some incongruous spice (possibly nutmeg) which just didn't work next to the sweet/citrus/cream. It didn't help that the menu was impenetrably pretentious in places. I resorted to the web for a number of terms, yet was sometimes none the wiser since they were vague or not well recognized terms. The server wasn't a lot of help either - she, for instance, started to explain to me what mussels were. Though I have no complaints about the service really. My dining partner had duck which was slimy-translucent rare, in spite of being ordered medium. We should have sent it back, but that in itself ruins an evening. The drinks were great.

A great place to sit at the bar, have a great drink and wonderful small plates and a romantic conversation. Dinner is also worthi t. They are always willing to accomodate getting to the movies on time - an added plus.

The $23 Sunday brunch buffet is impressive at this bold, eclectic restaurant, with a revamped wine list and exceptional desserts. Highlights: Smoke Monster (unfortunately, no relation to the cult-favorite TV show "Lost" -- tequila, grapefruit, honey & bitters), Raspberry Sorbet Smoothie, Validated Parking (via the Kendall Sq. Cinema Garage).
